“Perfect location, definatley return”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2011

We fell apon the Thorncliff B&B after the weather "turned" on our camping trip. Lovely warm welcome and an imacculate room, with everything you could possibly need. There were extra little touches that made this place special (Chocolates, fridge with fresh milk and a variety of drinks and goodies). Fantastic views of the valley and roof tops of Hebden Bridge. Proprietor's gave local information on nightlife, and restaurants to eat in, and they were great recommendations. Although breakfast was a vegetarian continental, served in the room, it certainly filled us up, and made a refreshing change from the stodge usually served. Would definatley recommend this B&B if in the area, and we will certainly return.

The accomodation includes a spacious , well appointed attic room , with great views of the town and impressive amenities , together with an adjacent bathroom , again spacious and attractively decorated. The breakfasts were varied and delicious , with a wide choice of both baked items and fruit , complemented by a regular supply of juice , cereals , yoghurt etc and we valued the freedom to eat as and when we wished to. There was a good range of information leaflets about local resources and places of interest , whilst Carmel and Jo were extremely welcoming , but not at all intrusive and it was good to have the entire attic floor to ourselves. The room was comfortable and very well maintained , the blackout blinds were brilliant , even in midsummer and the town centre is within a brisk five minute walk , the gradient of the hill providing something of a challenge in the form of a built in exercise regime and a good excuse to eat just one more croissant ! Our only minor quibble was with the mattress , which we found rather soft , but this is a matter of preference which varies from one individual to another and in all other respects we would thoroughly and warmly recommend Thorncliffe .
Liz

Belatedly we get around to reviewing this comfortable B&B we stayed in during a weekend spent immersing ourselves in Bronte culture in Haworth, a convenient and scenic drive away. The room was private, but we were made to feel very welcome in the lesbian friendly town. Didn't have time to absorb much local culture, but we're hoping to come back to do some walking, hoping for drier weather.

Other reviewers have mentioned the wonderful welcome and the delicious breakfasts (really good coffee, and a different selection of breads and tasty hot things each morning), so what can I add? The tasteful decorations throughout, the choice of colours, the quality of the finish, and the range of art on the walls. Each journey up or down the stairs was a chance to look at a gallery of great beauty and variety.
The room was wonderfully quiet and the bed really comfortable, perfect for a good night's sleep.
I will certainly be recommending this place, which is superb for walking and convenient for public transport. When you get to Thorncliffe, you are above the town, which is spectacular. You need to be fit enough to walk up hills (and stairs), and perhaps you don't want to be too tall for the attic!

My friend and I stayed at Thorncliffe, and although we aren't lesbians, that seemed to be unimportant. What was important was that Carmel and Jo were truly welcoming and helpful and provided two great rooms, one for me and one for my friend, both bright and with great views. One had a feeling that the attic room on the second floor up was a separate apartment. Although we were doing a tour and had to leave after 3 days we never stayed in a better stocked room- a refrigerator full of milk, jam, cheese, orange juice and lots of 'snack' food. A huge fruit bowl decorated the breakfast bar, but we couldn't manage to eat it all. First thing in the morning? Hot croissants, buns and coffee. Really, this was a super place in a beautiful Yorkshire village. I'd go back and I'd certainly recommend it to my friends. What made it really special though were the friendliness of Carmel and Jo. You had the feeling you were being taken care of.

This is now our 4th stay and we love it.
Wonderfull house on the sunny side of Hebden Bridge. Ideal location to enjoy the village. The attic bedroom is very nicely decorated, comfortable and well fitted with everything you need. The breakfast served in our room was big enought to keep us going all day. Loved the hot bath after walking on the hills.
The 2 hostesses always provide a warm welcome and are a useful source of local knowledge..
A place to recommend for 2 lesbians in search of a romantic week end.

Thorncliffe was a delight. Carmel and Jo were most welcoming and the top-floor room is spacious and comfortable and has views (if you stand on the footstool) of the church in Heptonstall. The vegetarian breakfasts--served in the room--are delicious and the claw-footed tub in the spotless bathroom good for relaxing after a long day's walk on the moors. Be prepared for a steep walk up the hill from the train station!
