We took advantage of a Dealmonster offer and ate at Healds Hall this evening with friends. Our reception was friendly and welcoming, pleasantly unhurried and informative. We were offered drinks and asked to review the set menu to ensure there were no dietary issues with it for our group. As there were no such issues, we moved to the dining room and were attended to by a well informed waitress who was attentive and understood the food but was not intrusive or hurrying. The six course tasting menu included soup, salmon, ox cheek, lamb a sorbet and a strawberry dessert. Each plate was well presented and had tasty and well balanced flavours. The wine we ordered was pleasant and reasonably priced. Overall, a lovely evening that was great value for money and something I would happily recommend to others.

You could easily call this hotel a restaurant with rooms as it's the food that is the highlight - both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant has a a lovely buzzy atmosphere [not the usual dull hotel] and the service was good. We've stayed a couple of times and both rooms were very comfortable and clean. Okay, the decor is a little old-fashioned, but in all the important matters the hotel comes up trumps: comfortable beds with decent bedlinen, rooms a good temperature, good showers. And the tiny details too: tissues, lots of coat hangers.
A tiny niggle - the curtains didn't keep out any light, neither the hotel outside lights nor the morning sun.
We will definitely be staying here whenever we need to be in the Leeds area.

We had the 6 course tasting menu on Saturday evening. There was a warm welcome on arrival and we were seated in the bar whilst we read the menu. We were shown to our table quite quickly and it was not long before the feast began. Great food. We were surprised by the high standard of it. The waiting staff were very good, appeared to be well trained but not unnecessarily formal. We will definitely be going again to try the standard menu which looks much better than more well known restaurants in the area.

We had our wedding at healds hall on Saturday 3rd May and the service and staff were exceptional from our first visit a year ago to when we left on sunday morning. It's a beautiful place, the food was fantastic and all the staff from the girls on reception to phil the manager couldn't have done enough for us. I highly recommend it for any occasion, see you on our first anniversary!
