We stayed at this hotel for one night in August 2011 as a family of four plus our dog. When we booked in the receptionist was very business like but not as friendly as she might have been. We were given the keys to our room and were pleasantly surprised when we saw it. As a family room it was spacious with a very comfortable double bed (beautifully, soft and fluffy duvets and pillows) and a large sofa bed for the children. The bathroom was lovely and clean with lots of clean white towels. We had a quiet night despite a wedding reception going on downstairs and our room facing the main road. The room had a tv (which kept tuning out!) and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was a self service buffet which would have been better with a member of staff on hand to help out (especially with the toaster!) but other than that it was perfectly acceptable. The only drawback is that there is no parking at the hotel so you have to pay to park in the public car park across the street. We paid £105 for a family room including breakfast and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Built on the site of The Chopping Knife Inn and formerly a vicarage, school for young gentleman and a temperance inn; The Antrobus Arms Hotel is an original listed 17th Century Coaching Inn set in the ancient town of Amesbury a stones throw away from Stonehenge and nearby Salisbury. We have 20 individually styled en-suite rooms, one of which is our Beatles Suite where the fab 4 (The Beatles) stayed while they were filming ‘Help’ on Salisbury Plain. The hotel has also been host to television programmes and films, including being a location for the filming of Agatha Christies ‘Miss Marple’. The hotel is perfectly placed to access a wide variety of attractions – both local and afar. With local bus and rail links running seven days a week, Amesbury is the perfect place to act as a base to explore southern England.
