“Not so good as last time”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

This is the third time we have visited this hotel. The previous two times we had an executive room but this time we opted for a standard room. I have to say it is well worth paying the extra to have the executive room. The standard rooms are pretty basic and quite small. We had room 123 which overlooked the car park. The room was very warm on arrival and we had to call down to reception to get someone to fix the air conditioning as it was not working. It appeared the remote control needed new batteries.

During the night the tv kept switching on and this was really annoying. We realised we could have switched off the tv at the mains but we could not find this during the night when we were half asleep.

Breakfast was ok, although my husband said the coffee was really bad.

Overall I would stay here again as it is convenient for us as a stop off point on our way down to relatives in Blandford but we would pay the extra for the executive room.

Dear traceytazzo,

I am really sorry your third visit to us did not meet bench of the previous 2 stays, as hotel manager it really disappoints me when I see we have not been able to maintain consistency.

The fault you have highlighted with the TV turning itself on during the night is something I have not encountered before; I can only assume there was a pre-set alarm in operation which was not cancelled by the previous occupant of the room. Thankfully following your stay there has been no repeat so fingers crossed the problem has remedied itself.

I note your comments about coffee at breakfast; I have spoken with our restaurant manager to ensure that the right amount of ground coffee is always added to the mix in addition coffee does not sit in the brewer to stew as this can affect the overall taste.

I really hope you will give us a forth try whereby I can assure you an overall experience comparable to your prior visits.

Kind regards

We arrived tired and befuddled after a long journey .We were made very welcome , the room was clean well aired and well supplied with life`s little essentials like plenty of tea and coffee. I had not heard the receptionist mention that the light switches were controlled by a card , and as you may guess the lights went out after 10 minutes, the manager checked the room , explained again the lights and left smiling, very patient gentleman.
Den booked a table and the meal was very good, attentive service, the manager serving tables came to ask if the lights were still working. We were not rushed and it was well cooked , the restaurant was very busy .
The bed room had triple glazing ,we couldn`t hear the traffic of which there was plenty.
The breakfast was hot and fresh , with as much coffee and tea as you wanted . Will definitely stay here again on our way back to Cornwall from Gatwick or Dover.

My husband and I stayed here so we could have easy access to Stonehenge for the 06:45 stone circle access tour. Easy to find. Plenty of parking. Nearby there are plenty of places to get food and petrol. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and the room was spotless and comfortable. We couldn't hear any noise from neighbouring rooms or from the road outside. The bathroom was very clean and the shower cubicle was enormous!
Only thing to be aware of is there is only wifi in the downstairs lobby and lounge not in the rooms.
Takes about 4 mins to get to the Stonehenge visitor centre. Would recommend to a friend and go back again myself.

Dear HaylaPPB,

Great feedback, I am delighted you enjoyed your recent stay with us. As a guest there is plenty of choice to dine from on the park, however I must highlight our award winning Solstice Bar and Grill is by far the best place to dine, combining an excellent selection of menu items in addition to offering great value in price there is simply no better place to dine.

I am delighted to confirm that we are very shortly having an upgrade to our broadband capacities; following this Wi-Fi service will be available throughout the hotel including bedrooms.

Best wishes

It's not the first time myself or my children (both under2) have stayed here. Claire on reception always happy to help and the housekeeping staff are always helpful. Especially when you have a poorly baby. I've only ever had breakfast here and it's been spot on. The rooms are comfy and spacious. Plenty of parking too.
Great location and easy to get to.
Looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.

My partner and I stayed here this weekend for a short break whilst visiting stonehenge, firstly the location is great, surrounded by pizza hut, kfc, harvester, co-op and a few others, it's a great location for other food etc. The room itself was clean, tidy and spacious, although the TV looked a bit old!
We ordered breakfast as room service on our second morning and it was delicious and plentiful. The staff were all very polite and helpful and I would definitely stay here again.

Dear SolidarityK,

Thank you for taking the time to right a comprehensive review on Trip Advisor, I am delighted to read you enjoyed your stay with us. We have a great breakfast product which is ideal to enjoy in either in the restaurant or in the comfort of your bedroom.

Noted your comments about the Televisions, they are just over 6 years old, however I am delighted to confirm that we are having an install of new TV’s across the hotel within the next 4 weeks making them state of the art.

Have a great summer and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Best wishes

Took a family group here for an early morning walk at Stonehenge. Good value rooms for up to four people in each, nice bar and restaurant that offers nice food. Great location. Recommended for roadside stay and for the convenience of its location near the stones and the amazing landscape around Stonehenge. Amazingly quiet given the roadside location

Dear Will H,

It is a pleasure to read your recent review following a visit to our hotel, noted although we’re adjacent to the busy A303 the hotel benefits from being triple glazed and fully soundproof so despite traffic volumes you will hear just tranquillity and be able to sleep in comfort.

I hope we will be privileged to be able to welcome you back in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely

No problems with finding it - it's very prominent on the A303. Reception seemed a bit flustered but were polite and helpful. We had an 'executive' room with the sofa used as an extra bed - probably a reasonably large room otherwise. It was over the restaurant, but we didn't hear any noise. Lots of families staying, a combination of proximity to Stonehenge, and Easter holidays. We only had breakfast at the hotel, which was very good, though it would have been nice to be offered a top-up of coffee. You can eat at Harvester, Pizza Express or McDonald's on the same trading estate

Dear hnswst,

Thank you for your recent review, great to read so many positive comments about the hotel. We have an excellent location just off the A303 which gives prime access to the national road network. I am pleased you enjoyed breakfast with us and noted your comments about topping up of coffee this will be shared with my restaurant operations team.

I hope we will be able to welcome you back in the near future.
