Amesbury History Centre
Ranked #2 of 8 things to do in Amesbury
Attraction details
Reviewed 26 July 2017

If you want a great insight into the history of this area then the Centre is a must. The staff are very well informed and only too happy to answer queries/questions. If you've already visited Stonehenge then a visit here will put the history of the area into perspective. Amesbury is the oldest continually inhabited town in Europe with a wonderful history. .If time is of the essence and you can't stay too long at Stonehenge itself, come here and be better informed!

The famous Stonehenge does not stand alone. Its history is connected with its surroundings including this site. It offers the usual visitors facilities n a local touch with local history. The museums are not free but are worth a visit. The local pubs are good for refreshments n a good rest. Not costly. Friendly folks.

This place contains many artefacts discovered at Blick Mead, from the middle stone age. Stuff you just don't see anywhere else
