Bowood is a fantastic location for a hotel and spa. The bedrooms are good but far from luxury. No movies and no sat tv, only freeview available. tv is average size. tea and coffee in room and nice touch of free cookies.
For hotel claiming to be luxury the attention to detail is mixed. Where is the toothpaste and toothbrushes? no combe? Simple things like this should never be missed!
hotel seems a bit disorganised as turn down didnt happen until 8pm? seems strange a leaves guests confused looking for breakfast card. btw £5.50 for tray service! should be free really no one likes hidden charges. No 24 hr room service either which for a "luxury hotel" is unbelievable! Not bad hotel, just missing the basics. Not luxury!

A perfect antidote to the winter blues! Super hotel , well designed with great attention to detail in all areas of the hotel. Very attentive staff who were always on hand to serve or help. Good restaurant although we picked the day the menu changed and there were a few technical issues but the staff were great and things improved the next day. A quiet tranquil location and great spa.

A group of us-two couples -had a fantastic three night break at this hotel last week. It is very classy and upmarket, yet not dauntingly formal. The rooms and bathrooms are spectacular, and they have delicious home-made biscuits left in the room each day, and the beds are huge and ultra-comfortable The food was good; my vegetarian options for the main meals were good, and although there are two menus and the food is inexplicably cooked in two separate kitchens, we were able to pick from either menu without too much hassle. On one of the mornings there was a hot breakfast buffet as they had more guests that day, but for the other two mornings breakfast was cooked to order. By the way: a big shout-out to Rachel, a bartender and waitress who was attentive, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the area. We also had a great chambermaid (do people still use that term? Sorry if not!) a local girl with a beautiful local accent! (Sorry I didn't catch her name)
The spa was just wonderful, one of the very best in all the many hotels I've stayed in over the years: pool, steam, Jacuzzi and sauna all clean and inviting, and avoiding the well signed children's times made it even better!
To sum up: we will definitely come back here after a really first class, relaxing mini-break here. Highly recommended.

Just had a lovely one night spa break with a group of friends at Bowood Hotel. Couldn't fault anything. Twin rooms were very spacious and nice touches in the room including the gorgeous homemade cookies! Great spa facilities and had an excellent massage. All staff members we encountered were exceptionally helpful, professional and friendly. We are already planning our next visit.

We went for the gala meal with a large group of friends.welcome was good with champagne and canapés. Food and entertainment were great, only downside was the lack of bar staff, 20 mins to order a drink and bottle of wine... Not acceptable. Then they had no champagne glasses so resorted to washing one up in toilets...really?! Apart from that though we had a wonderful evening and would go again. £99was good value for money for what was experienced.
