Our overall experience was very good. The building is beautiful in the heart of a lovely village. Our room - a junior suite was very roomy. The bed was large and comfortable with a choice of pillows.
We had a cream tea on our arrival in one of the cosy bars with an open fire and lovely seating. However, it was marred by young children, (whose parents obviously thought it was acceptable to let them run riot) It was a shame that the management don't have a policy to keep these areas toddler free, the vast majority of guests are couples without young families looking for some relaxation.
Breakfast and service was fantastic.
We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was amazing. Make sure you get an email confirmation of booking though, as although we had booked, there was no record of it and it was slightly unpleasant to be greeted with this on our arrival. A member of staff took over and sorted this which was well done.

We have just spent a night in a junior suite and had dinner in the Bybrook restaurant - it was wonderful! Our suite was fantastic, the meal was delicious, surroundings plush but not pretentious and the staff were great, attentive without being overbearing.
The drinks were rather expensive but as it was a luxurious treat we were happy to pay.
Breakfast was great too, so much choice. All in all a fabulous visit.

I booked this hotel for my husband's birthday. From arrival to departure the overall service was excellent.

Negatives:
-One day our room wasn't cleaned until late afternoon, and that was after we asked (we got told priority gets given to guests arriving that day and since there was a wedding on we we bottom of the housekeeping list)
-Bed linen wasn't changed daily
-TV in bathroom doesn't work (despite previous traveller's posts commenting on this)
-Lunch menu is very basic and pricey for what it is (other than the Manor house there is only two other pubs in the village that offer food and drinks and they dont serve food between 3pm and 6pm, which was an issue as we arrived at 3pm very hungry)
-Car parking was an issue as there was a wedding on, someone took our spot which was specifically reserved for guests at that cottage
-Service charge is automatically added onto your bill (but can request this to be taken off) and invoice at end isn't itemised
-Our cottage was next to the church whose bells chime every hour on the hour

Positives:
-Pictures don't do this place justice, Golden Leigh cottage was better than the photos, simply stunning and located in equally beautiful grounds
-Staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming, and very attentive to all guests and not just the typical "high class" guests
-The cupcakes provided as part of the package booked were yummy (but small in quantity/size)

Room Tip: Golden Leigh cottage is beautiful, just a short walk from the main building

Dear Reviewer 535,

Thank you for your feedback and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay.

I know there were some negative points that you mentioned and I thought I ought to respond to a couple of your issues.

I am so sorry your bathroom TV did not appear to work, I tried it yesterday myself and it seemed to work fine, so we must have rectified the problem after you had departed.

You mention the lack of itemising of bill, the breakdown is readily available and is presented at the same time as the final bill, and if guests require the breakdown the Receptionist has the information straight away.

We do provide ear plugs for light sleepers, but unfortunately we cannot stop the bells as the church does not belong to us.

Once again thank you for your comments and I do hope we may see you again soon.

Kind regards,

Stephen Browning
General Manager

Returned yesterday, from the most relaxing break. One night at the Manor House felt more like a three day break, it was so peaceful and relaxing. I felt totally stress free! On arrival, the staff were very attentive. Our deluxe room, Stone Hill was completely fantastic! This night away was a Christmas Present from myself to my husband. The Hotel totally delivered everything I hoped it would, as a gift to him. I feel like I couldn't have chosen a better hotel, we both thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to return! Our meal was totally gorgeous and the pianist was a lovely touch. Some free bubbles for the glorious roll top bath would've been gladly received. We did think the drink prices were extremely high however. Well done everyone, a beautiful place!

A wonderful night of luxury in an incredibly comfortable and relaxing venue. We were looked after very professionally and made to feel like king and queen. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the size of the room and the bathroom was vast. Breakfast was truly a delight with an amazing choice and all prepared to perfection. All in all we were extremely impressed and left feeling thoroughly refreshed and pampered. I hope to be back in the very near future for another visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms overlooking the front of the hotel, a stunning view...

We hadn't been to this part of the country before so didn't really know what to expect. The village is breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt and the entrance to the hotel is right in the middle and easy to find, as we drove up to the manor house we both were astonished at the setting and how lovely it looked even though the recent weather was awful. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the staff without exception were excellent, we felt very relaxed and the atmosphere is informal and clearly geared towards individual needs. The interior decor is very well thought out, combining very old fittings with modern, stylish fabrics and furniture and many informal discreet places to sit. Our bedroom was just fantastic, almost like having a wing to ourselves. We only had breakfast in the hotel but that was lovely too. On this occasion we just went as a couple but our teenage daughter would have absolutely loved everything about this hotel and we were delighted to hear that the cottages were able to take dogs as this is just the perfect setting for a family holiday as well as a couples break.

Great to find the same beautiful hotel that we stayed in 30 years ago despite the room number changes that meant we did not find the same room for this stay. Regardless of this, the hotel is beautiful; staff are fantastic, efficient and very friendly; the food was wonderful (but it was a shame the valentine menu was repeated on Saturday as we would have eaten there again if the menu had changed). The rooms are wonderful and the facilities and grounds lovely. It was a pleasure to re-visit this hotel which has such high quality standards in all it does from furnishings to service. Enjoyed the breakfast, where we chose full english but with plenty of choice for continental also. This is not a cheap hotel but for a special occasion it makes for a wonderful relaxing visit with plenty of tourist attractions nearby.

Room Tip: We prefer being in the main house as those staying in cottages had to walk outside to get to the res...
