“My Favorite Place in England”

Castle Combe is by far my favorite place in England. I never would have found it if Mad Max tours didn't take me there so I'd like to thank them. It's a small village, only a few blocks long and it took us less than an hour to "explore" it all. It's quaint and beautiful. We were lucky to be there on a bright dry day. Castle Combe is what you think of when you think of the English countryside. There isn't a lot to do there other than walk around but you'll love the walk.

Although I have been to visit this village a number of times, particularly when living in the UK. It was such a pleasure to see the thrill and wonder of my friend's face when taking her to see it.The village can boast a number of films made using the village, Dr Doolittle, War Horse, Stardust etc. We also bumped into a another couple from Australia who thought they had found the best find of their trip.

This is a very pretty village where part of War Horse was filmed.
It has the excellent hotel, and two Pubs.
It does attract many visitors and parking can be a problem.

Quiet little village. Not as many tourist as I thought there would be. Has a couple of pub restaurants that do lovely food. A small church, a little "arty" shop for souvenirs and a post office. Nice to stand and watch stream from the bridge. Peaceful, we took a long walk to take in the scenery of quaint little cottages and stream. Nothing much else to do. Nice to eat at one of the pub restaurants. Very little parking and narrow streets. As we were staying at the hotel this was not a problem as parked there but would be difficult if just visiting.

Although tricky to reach by car, along narrow, steep country lanes, the effort is massively rewarded with the embodiment of a chocolate box Cotswold village. It's largely unspoilt and original, and is a photograhers delight!
