Description: As the original Bistro in Devizes (established 2003) we pride ourselves on being true to the original concept - that is a small, family run establishment (usually with a chef owner) providing a menu that often features slow cooked, seasonal dishes. The setting is traditional in that it is informal, relaxed and cosy. However, we are known for food that 'tickles the tastebuds', is influenced by a range of cuisines and always has The Bistro 'twist" to it. Open both at lunch time and in the evening, we have the distinction of also running a cookery school, now known as Vaughan's Cookery School and operating from another location in the town. Committed to sharing a passion for good food, Chef Peter Vaughan is a member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and of the Slow Food Movement.

Ate here last night and two friends. service and food were fabulous. The menu is themed and exceptional quality and tasty. The presentation amazing, waitress knowledgable and attentive without being intrusive. The chef was visible and talking to diners about the menu and food. I look forward to the next theme.

“Annual trip to Devizes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014 via mobile

My friends and meet in Devizes every year. We were going for a curry but had a look at the menu and decided to give it a go. Wow, well what a meal. We had a set menu, including vegetarian dishes. All of us loved it. We had a bottle of red and white wine recommended and these were lovely. We had two more. Service was friendly and the stories about the food made it a great experience. We will want to go again next July.

“A chance find with excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Visitor to Devises and pleased to find this excellent bistro / restaurant just off the Market Place. Superb Spanish food prepared by a talented team with fresh ingredients. The owner / head chef was extremely hospitable with recommendations from the menu and a very good wine list which included some excellent Riojas. Sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere and a great evening was had by all.

“Zingingly Good!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

We live and work in Devizes. We popped into the Bistro one evening last week and they were doing a special menu featuring dishes from Northern Spain. Superb. A lovely wide range of Pinchos to start with, using a wide variety of ingredients and traditional sauces. The mains; I had the dish with hake and my partner had the slow cooked pork - they were just so delicious and with such great skill in the spicing of the dishes. A real treat. Added bonus were some very well chosen wines from the same region.

Stopped off in Devizes on a day out, very pleasantly surprised by the Bistro. The food was beautifully presented and tasty too. High quality ingredients and great use of spices. Nice one.
