Had early lunch here and got a tad confused. Maybe it's me. The menu was printed and stuck to the front door. All well and good. Ordered a couple of meals from it, without realising there is another menu behind the bar. A bit of confusion then the barmaid said, "oh so you want to order from THAT menu..." meaning the one on the door.

Later she came over and said, you do realise the portions are smaller on that menu... well, no I didn't actually, as it - didn't - say - anything - about smaller portions.

Turns out it's the OAP menu, I suppose if you are a regular you would gradually come to know these things. Eventually decided to order off the regular menu and those portions were pretty small themselves, so the OAPs round there must have tiny appetites.

Prices were high for the portion size, although it was quite good home-made quality apart from the unbelievably salty gravy.

Would have been a couple of extra stars if the barmaid didn't make me feel like I'd ruined her day by walking in.

“Put off our dinner”

The low point of the evening was watching the landlord(?) walk over and squash a load of flying ants in the window with a wet bar mat and then (without rinsing it) lean over and use the same bar mat to wipe a table. Pretty gross!

“Unfriendly miserable landlord”

Arrived at the pub on glorious sunny evening. The beer garden had plenty of free tables, went in to order food and drinks. Landlord was offering to set up a tab for customer who declined he was then offered cashback, a local commented that it was ridiculous when bar was busy. Asked when food orders stopped as I would have ordered desserts as well as dinners, to be told, I've stopped taking orders I've got thirteen waiting in the garden and two tables inside waiting. Poor customer service how will they cope in the summer with campsite full and more boaters. Would not spend your money here.

“Unwelcome”

Visited on a busy Saturday night as we were staying at the nearby camp-site. We fully expected to wait for food. The lovely waitress said there would be an hour wait which we accepted , she gave us some menus and before we had the chance to go outside to look at them the owner said all further meals were cancelled as they couldn't cope with any more. It was 8pm . Not very welcoming wont be going there again.

“Very disappointing ”

Attended on a Saturday evening as a family group of eight. After getting us all seated and sorting out our own menus from tables still eating due to lack of availability we had a good 10-15min wait at the bar to be served to have then declared by the landlord he was taking no more food orders at 815pm as he couldn't cope with the volume. This left our party high and dry and so we had to order a takeaway to be delivered before returning to our barge on the canal. This landlord could just not cope... The bar seemed reasonably busy but the beer garden was only half full ... Not sure how , if at all they will cope with this kind of management in the coming busy summer months!!!
