“A lovely cottage!”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We spent 8 days in Potterne (Wiltshire). The cottage was bright and clean, with a nice garden, the owner very friendly and helpful, and the village close enough to lots of tourist attractions so that we were able to get the most of our holiday without having to drive too much. If you're looking for a cosy but comfortable stay, do not hesitate to contact Bruce!

“Very spacious”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We booked here as we wanted a decent size place to stay with relatives over from the USA. We were met by Bruce who is a great chap and did his utmost to make us feel welcome. The garden is great and a good place to relax. The cottage is very light and airy, the beds very comfortable. Potterne is a great place from which to explore, being close to Stonehenge, Avebury and the wonderful Lacock.

“Perfect, home away from home”

I attended a wedding at the local church in Potterne and reception in the church hall, both within a stones throw of the cottage, which made it an extremely convenient base. The cottage itself is a beautiful, extremely spacious, clean and well equipped place to stay within a short distance of Devizes, which is handy for local supermarkets, banks etc. The cottage had everything, and more, that you could wish for ie washing machine, dishwasher, wifi access, a lovely garden/terrace to enjoy your early morning coffee/breakfast. Bruce welcomed myself on arrival and explained all the necessary bits and bobs, he had even left some tea, coffee, sugar & milk so I can enjoy a nice beverage after my journey. (along with a bottle of wine, nice touch!). He also saw us off personally at the end of our stay. All members of the family that stayed here, along with a couple of members of our extended family that popped in briefly, were impressed with the cottage and would stay here without hesitation, they could not believe how little it cost to hire this lovely property.
Thank you Bruce and Cheyne Cottage for having us, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

“Cheyne Cottage was Absolutely Perfect for our stay”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We traveled from Ireland to do the Devizes to Westminister Canoe race.
The "Cottage" was actually a very spacious house with lots of room for 8 adults. It had every facility, from free wifi to BBQ, board games large TV etc etc. Nice big back garden. House was spotless. Great welcome pack, with instruction on use of heating etc.
Great Communication with Bruce, via phone, text and email.
The village Potterne was lovely and quiet, people very friendly. Nice pub only short walk away.
I would highly recommend anyone to stay at Cheyne Cottage

“Beautiful cottage, lovely throughout.”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Stayed in Bruce's gorgeous cottage for four nights at the beginning of January, with 6 adults it was nice to have plenty of space, in all the rooms and in the dining room and living room as well. The cottage is really well equipped, didn't come across the usual annoyance of a lack of cooking equipment and or cutlery and glasses etc. Plenty to go around.
The added bonus of 2 bathrooms also meant that 6 girls getting ready in the morning was a breeze.
The cottage is easy to find being 2 minutes from nearby Devizes which has a bevvy of restaurants and pubs, we especially recommend Franco's where we had amazing italian food. It is also near to Bath (about 30 mins no traffic)
I would have absolutely no hesitation in coming back to Cheyne cottage, Bruce was an extremely pleasant host (he even came to wave us off in the morning) and as I said the cottage is lovely.
Hopefully next time it will be in the summer so we can enjoy the garden and the bbq!

“Super break - very comfortable”
Reviewed 11 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

With 4 adults and 3 kids, the cottage was a perfect size, enough rooms and space to spread out! Everything was clean, tidy and thoughtful little details and touches made it a happy stay for all of us. Very child friendly too with toys and dvd's for the kids. They loved their "holiday home"! Nothing to fault!

“Great place for families”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cheyne Cottage and were especially impressed that it had everything we needed and more. We were travelling as a large group ranging from a baby up to oldies and really appreciated that the house was perfect for little ones. Bruce provided a cot, high chair, stair gates, loads of books, kids' DVDs, toys - for both young kids and babies - and loads of balls and rackets to play with outside. To have our little ones entertained whilst we could relax was invaluable.
We all fit in nicely, although I would say we're used to Queen sized beds so weren't the biggest fans of the double beds that sunk in the middle! The place did need a little bit more of a dusting too!
It really was a perfect place for us, set in a lovely little village very close to all we needed to see in lovely Wiltshire.

Thank you for your review and I am delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay. Certainly all the equipment and toys/games for children, along with all the space, have proved very popular with families before. Both double beds are now the type with a longitudinal central steel support under-beams - meaning middle sagging is impossible. I was disappointed by your dust comment and have therefore introduced a dusting "triple check" at each changeover.
Thank you for being great guests, Bruce
