As a pre-booked party of 6 we were warmly welcomed, our table was ready and we were given just long enough before ordering drinks. The staff were attentive but not over whelming and the food was excellent. We all ordered different dishes and the excellence was consistent across the starters, mains and desserts. Had we known the size of the portions we would have skipped the starters!
The only downside was the presence of two extremely large great dane dogs just as we finished our meal. They prowled the bar, putting their noses on the tables and perfuming the eating area with a most unpleasant aroma of damp dog. We skipped the intended coffee and further drinks and left.

Arrived as part of a party of 7 for pre-booked Christmas dinner. Shown to table despite being 15 minutes early. Offered drinks 20 minutes after arrival and were waiting for starters for around an hour. Staff disappeared and we had to ask for drinks when a staff member came back occasionally to serve another table. Each course took an hour with no apology for any delay. Service was poor with lack of attention to detail (running out of cutlery as not enough service settings and milk etc) Main course was not hot enough, with only the roast potatoes sufficiently warm. Staff had a penchant for blaming each other for not following requests up. The eating area was a converted skittle alley and had mould on the window frames and condensation running wet on the walls. It took 2 hours for a starter and a sorbet, and 4 hours overall to finish! Staff only quickened the pace when I had to go to the bar to enquire when our dessert would be arriving, with coffee and mince pies quickly following dessert.

In all this has been the poorest experience I have ever had for a meal of this cost (£45 per head) The food was average, the atmosphere far from 'Christmassy' and the customer focus non-existent. The staff were pleasant enough, however not prepared to deal with customers requirements. Seemed under staffed with not enough focus on the Christmas meal tables. (Front of the pub seemed to be receiving food well enough)

Very disappointed, all of us.

Had a great meal and all the staff very welcoming and helpful.Only problem was the strong smell of damp dog and poo in garden. The smells a bit off putting when eating.

We popped in to the Fox and Hounds for impromptu visit, as have been away from Devizes for a year in Spain, so pleasantly surprised by the change in the pub, although quiet, as we now realise we were rather late for lunch, the changes were warmly welcomed. The hostess was charming, and we had a great lunch, super food and atmosphere. So nice to find a lovely pub on the edge of town. We will definitely return for dinner and one of their music events.

I went to the Fox and Hounds for a meal around 6 weeks and was very impressed with the food. They served good portion sizes, everything was homemade and it looked as if the place had taken upward turn.
However, I recently visited again last week with friends and the food, portion sizes and service had all gone downhill. For starters the delicious homemade chips we had 6wks ago was replaced with oven chips and the portion sizes had been almost halved.
I had been recommending this place to family and friends but can no longer do that based on my last experience.
