This year's Devizes Beer Festival was another good day out with old friends. The Castle continues to get better. Efficient, helpful friendly staff help to make this a perfect stay for the weekend.
Booked in again for 2014.
See you then!

Friendly and helpful reception staff showed us to a very nice room on the second floor, spacious and very nicely decorated in an old fashioned style, free parking and breakfast included in the price. Right in the centre of a charming town, an abundance of small shops and cafes. We ate in the hotel's restaurant and were satisfied with the food and friendly, efficient service. We will when we visit the area again, most likely 2014.

Hotel was clean and tidy, and staff very friendly, Check in quick, not much parking, only two arch ways, and if they are full, then you will need to find over night parking in town. You can choose to eat in the hotel or have a nice drink on the sun terrace. Town is a stone throw away with plenty of little quaint shops to see, with plenty of eating houses. Walk by the canal or just sit in the park and let the world go by. We had a family room on the front, quite noisy with the traffic passing through all night, but the room big enough, but I would suggest the beds are only queens not double. Breakfast was nice, could have done with coming out on warm plates. But other than that a nice stop over for a weekend.

Room Tip: Don't get the front room facing the road.

Dear icylight,

Thank you for staying at The Castle Hotel and taking time to leave such a positive review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay and found Devizes to your liking.

I'm sorry that you found that your room had some road noise. Being an old coaching inn, the hotel is situated beside the road. For this reason we have installed secondary glassing in all front windows and provide earplugs in every room just in case.

As you stated, we also have a number of quieter corners of the hotel if requested. I am glad however that this issue did not ruin your great experience at our hotel.

We hope to see you again soon, thanks again for your kind feedback.

Kind Regards

My wife and I have just come back from staying at The Castle for the third time in the last 12 months. In each case we have enjoyed our stay and have been impressed at the sympathetic way the refurbishment has been carried out to the hotel without losing the " quirkiness " of the old building. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The overall impression is of an efficient team and management. The last stay was in one of the " double executve " rooms. Well appointed and comfortable and I cannot think of any additions or improvements necessary. The breakfast menu is amazing and the dinner menu covers all tastes and requirements. The Wadworths 6X is well kept too! I would recommend a stay here and we will be back in the next month or so.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back!

Dear yorkiebiggin

Thank you for visiting the Castle Hotel and for coming back so regularly!

I have passed your extremely complimentary words onto the team, who were delighted that you continue to to have great stays with us.

Thank you also for the very kind feedback on our refurbishment. This is a 17th century coaching inn, so we were very careful to keep the historic feel in the building. I'm glad that you like it.

We look forward to welcoming you on your 4th visit!

Thank you

We live fairly locally but were attending a family "do"and decided to stay in Devizes. We arrived at the hotel at approx. 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.Check was fast and efficient. We had a really lovely room (Dble Exec)which faces the back of the hotel overlooking the church.Room was really nice,Quite spacious, nice old fashioned furniture, with tea/coffee making facilities.Bed was very comfortable.Bathroom very nice with the added bonus of a bath, and nice white fluffy robes! We were pleasantly surprised to discover the roof terrace.Gorgeous flower boxes with adequate seating and we were slightly surprised that no one else was using it as the day was sunny and warm.A hidden gem we think!!! The hotel is clean, and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a cooked breakfast which was delicious and nice to see they use local produce. We would happily recommend this hotel to other family and friends. We really enjoyed our stay!We had had a look at other hotels in Devizes but this one is definitely the best value for money.Very convenient to the town and canal.Supermarket virtually across the road as is the town centre.

Room Tip: We had the double executive which faces the back of the hotel.

Stayed for one night on a business trip and overall had a very good stay. Had a double room which was comfy, evening meal was really good and cooked to order. Breakfast again very good. Only crime was the room was situated at the front of the hotel which means you get woken up very early by the traffic noise, I discovered the earplugs the hotel supplied in the morning! All in all a good stay with excellent friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel can be noisy with the traffic noise

Dear Mark B,

Thank you for a great review, I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay on your recent business trip.

I'm pleased that you enjoyed your meals and that the staff treated you so well, I'll pass your comments onto the whole team. I'm sorry that you missed the earplugs, we supply them in every room for lighter sleepers, so that's a real shame.

Also, if you stay with us again, please ask for the option one of the rooms at the rear which overlook the church yard, they are in a quieter area of the hotel.

We look forward to seeing you again, thank you again.

Kind Regards
