“Central hotel with good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

Well positioned hotel minutes from the shops and market square. Friendly welcome on our arrival for an overnight visit and very pleasant staff throughout our stay. Evening meal very good followed by an enjoyable brandy by the log fire. Excellent and substantial breakfast. Comfortable executive room (16) at rear, quiet as a grave for a good nights' sleep.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are probably quieter.

I stay here often. Nice spacious rooms, good Wi Fi throughout the hotel and individual rooms that make the most of the old features off the building. Rooms on the front can be noisy (early morning traffic) but the proximity to the town centre with so many pubs and restaurants and a fantastic breakfast menu more than compensate.

Wow what delicious food. Antipasti platter scrumptious and the goats cheese salad beautiful. Staff very attentive and relaxed atmosphere with open fire finished off a lovely evening. Parking free and rooms clean and modern. Highly recommend and would book again.

The Castle Hotel is on New Park Street, Devizes, which is not at the heart of the Market Place driven town. However in less than 5 minutes you are in a traditional coaching inn with a good sized bar with a comfy seating area. There is also a seperate restaurant with 50 plus covers. The staff are all very friendly and the kitchen serves up a good range of traditional lunches and dinners, sometimes with a twist! A great place for a business meeting or a family get together. The room I stayed in wash very clean and comfortable, the one drawback being it overlooked the first floor patio area - could be a bit of a shock for the unsuspecting. With 3 or 4 of the staff playing for the Devizes Rugby team there is a good atmosphere guaranteed whilst being smart enough for your aged granny's birthday bash.

Overall very good, usual bar food- but big portions, perfect ! better than measley overpriced nouveau cuisine places. Great breakfast- plenty of choice.
Good rooms, well appointed.
Recommended as character and comfy.

Room Tip: recommended for location to town, space for eating and knowledge from staff. Good price to !

We were here for work 'do' on 20th December 2013 and stayed the night so we could both enjoy a drink. On arrival at reception there was a very friendly welcome, despite the fact it was busy. We found our room to be very comfortable, with all the quirkiness you would expect from such an old building. All was clean and we had no complaints at all.
The buffet provided for the evening was more than ample with a mixture of hot and cold food which was replenished at regular intervals. I have been a food hygiene trainer and can be very picky about food being left out for too long but I had no cause for concern here as they were really good at food safety.
There was a very good disco and the room had been beautifully decorated for us.
Breakfast was perfect. The general manager was the perfect host, greeted us with a smile and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. I want to know how to get my poached eggs to come out so well!
Overall - 10/10

My wife and I were staying at the Castle Hotel while attending the opening of the new Prehistoric Wiltshire Galleries at the Devizes Museum. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the room very comfortable and pleasant. The off road parking was a bonus as I had the car full of replica pots for the new Stonehenge Visitor Centre. The food in the bar was excellent as were the breakfasts. Helpful touches like readily available ironing boards and WI-FI that actually worked made the stay even more pleasant. Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.
