Description: Authentic Italian bakery and coffee shop in the heart of Wiltshire run by "The Jazz Baker" Gianni Campanella - regional finalist on The Great British Bakery 2014 and star of BBC2's Terry & Mason's Great Food Trip. Dolcipani offers a huge range of freshly baked breads, delicious Italian coffee, cakes and savoury Sicilian dishes. “A small piece of Italy hidden in Devizes”

We have been going here for a few years and have always found it to be the best coffee in the town, they have always had great cakes and savouries too this has now been complimented by even more cakes, etc.
We don't like the national coffee chains so this is like a small piece of heaven tucked just off the Britox and well worth seeking out.

“Cosy and exotic (for Devizes!)”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

When it's pouring down with rain or freezing cold, it's nice to go in somewhere with good coffee, the smell of bread and cheese toasting in the oven, and the windows all steamed up.

True, mamma Campanella can come across as a bit grumpy but you can tease a smile out of her. After all, she has to deal with people like Breadman39. Can't be easy.

The bread *is* baked fresh daily, and there's a wide variety, including harder-to-find varieties such as filone. They also sell a variety of cakes and other sweet things - I bought some "Baci di dama" there today - little almond and chocolate cakey biscuit things - which were very nice. And if you want a smile, the other Campanella lady is never short of them.

A real gem in Devizes. Don't go to one of the million other coffee shops - try here.

“Truly aweful experience”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

The bread is supposed to be baked fresh daily but is pulled out from an old black sack behind the counter by a rude and obnoxious Italian women who served me, I asked if the bread was made that day and I was just mumbled at in broken english and was demanded £ 2.85 which was very expensive as it was only a small 400g tin! The front counter was mixed with pastries, cheeses, meats and biscuits I thought all these products should be kept separately while all the pizzas with eggs and tuna on were unrefrigerated. The place in general looked dirty and unloved while the owner looked bored and vacant and unwelcoming. When I got home and cut into my bread it was so hard my sharp bread knife had such difficulty cutting through it, it slipped and cut into my hand! Would not recommend this place to anyone.

“Worth Seeking Out”
Reviewed 23 October 2012

Devizes is being invaded by big chain coffee shops, with Costa and now Nero taking over sites on the main shopping street. However if you duck off the main parade into Old Swan Yard there is still an authentic Italian family-run coffee shop/bistro. Here you will get hand-made Italian dishes rather than pre-packaged fast food. There is a bakery on the premises, producing bread, pastry and cakes to real Italian recipes and you can order in advance if you want to be sure and get your favourite. It could do with some redecoration but that doesn't detract from the food and coffee.
