Description: Authentic Italian bakery and coffee shop in the heart of Wiltshire run by "The Jazz Baker" Gianni Campanella - regional finalist on The Great British Bakery 2014 and star of BBC2's Terry & Mason's Great Food Trip. Dolcipani offers a huge range of freshly baked breads, delicious Italian coffee, cakes and savoury Sicilian dishes. Gianni himself makes his unique traditional stone-baked pizza: fermented 48 hours, with wild yeast only.

“Il Nuovo Dolcipani”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

Dolcipani opened in Old Swan Yard some 20 years ago but underwent a total refurbishment at the end of 2013. The cafe's new layout and decor is bright and cheerful and really suits the Sicilian-influenced dishes on offer. In good weather you can sit outside and enjoy a little bit of pavement cafe atmosphere, but if it's cold it's warm and welcoming inside. However, since the team from Dolcipani reached the regional final of ITV's Britain's Best Bakery competition it can get very busy, and rightly so. Giani's bread, pastries and cakes are truly delicious and have that home-made touch that is so missing from the big coffee shop chains. Today for lunch we had ham and mushroom crepes served in a creamy tomato sauce and with a small side salad. Lovely on a cold day! There is a full selection of savoury and sweet items on offer though and children are also well catered for. I'd very much recommend a visit.

“another winner in Devzies”
Reviewed 24 January 2014

nothing to dislike at all! Italian cafe style dining, morning, lunch and early afternoon. Good bread from the onsite bakery too, and small delicatessen thrown in. You feel as if you have rolled up on your vespa to sip on an espresso, or rolled in at lunchtime for a coffee and a sandwich. Light lunches excellently provided, with buns, ice cream and milkshakes for the young (and not so young that love them all). A real slice of Italian lifestyle (or Leichardt for anyone from sydney!) in a small market town.

The only downside is they're not open in the summer evenings to enjoy a cofee or ice on the pavement. But hey ho... we'll live with that!

“Best Coffee in Town”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

This lovely Italian coffee shop has been totally refurbished offering spacious seating and a warm friendly welcome, which the Italians are well renowned for. Prices are excellent and any hot drink and a lovely pastry or biscuit (freshly made there on the premises) will only set you back £3.00. The food menu looks super with both a varied regular menu and different specials each day.
I went in for a coffee and, after seeing the lovely array of cakes I weakened and tried a Choco Salami (cake made with almonds and chocolate) which was wonderful.
You will not beat this place for quality and prices and I highly recommend it - what more can I say?

“A small piece of Italy hidden in Devizes”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

We have been going here for a few years and have always found it to be the best coffee in the town, they have always had great cakes and savouries too this has now been complimented by even more cakes, etc.
We don't like the national coffee chains so this is like a small piece of heaven tucked just off the Britox and well worth seeking out.

“Cosy and exotic (for Devizes!)”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

When it's pouring down with rain or freezing cold, it's nice to go in somewhere with good coffee, the smell of bread and cheese toasting in the oven, and the windows all steamed up.

True, mamma Campanella can come across as a bit grumpy but you can tease a smile out of her. After all, she has to deal with people like Breadman39. Can't be easy.

The bread *is* baked fresh daily, and there's a wide variety, including harder-to-find varieties such as filone. They also sell a variety of cakes and other sweet things - I bought some "Baci di dama" there today - little almond and chocolate cakey biscuit things - which were very nice. And if you want a smile, the other Campanella lady is never short of them.

A real gem in Devizes. Don't go to one of the million other coffee shops - try here.
