Owner description: The Vaults is a very unique experience unlike any other in Wiltshire. Set in the heart of Devizes this grade 2 listed building is full of character, ambience and atmosphere. This is the place to try if you like to experience new flavours and have your boundaries well and truly pushed by our helpful and knowledgeable staff. A bank of 5 cask ale handpumps greets you when you enter and with no fixed range, each time you visit you'll find something new. In addition there are 3 traditional ciders and over 100 different bottled beers and ciders from all over the world. You'll find a beautifully designed menu that lists all the bottles and the most delicious locally sourced pies. Tasting is the name of the game here. Most popular are the Beer Paddles where you can buy 3 x third of a pint of the ales or the ciders at the regular price of a pint. There are no rules that you have to buy one drink per person, you're encouraged to buy bottles and have tasting glasses to share. All the furniture and decor throughout has been designed and built by a local artist using recycled and scrap timber and metal and adds a touch of quirkiness to the venue.

“Fantastic real ale pub”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

A fantastic real ale pub. Malcolm puts a lot of effort into sourcing all the fantastic ales available

Plenty of character for a pub with no music tv's or other distractions.

A place to chill out away from the world for half an hour or so with a cracking pint and a chat
(unless you still want to laugh at your mate on Facebook at his silly new hat in which case there is also free wifi without this cloud nonsense)

“Excellent beer and company”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

This is a proper drinking house - no music, no machines and only pies, scotch eggs and crisps for food. There is always a good selection of beers from small breweries. A great opportunity to try ales you wouldn't get in mainstream pubs. It closes at 9pm but hey - there are plenty of other pubs to try nearby.

“Pubtastic!”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

I can't really add anything to what others have said. never disappointed. if I have one gripe its that its like being a kid in a sweet shop crossed with Freddie Mercury. I want it ALL, and I want it NOW!

Somebody mentioned the closing hours in another review... as I understand it that is down to the local council licensing department who saw fit to only grant the license until 21:00. Nothing to do with Malc... it was take it or leave it.

Now I've written this I've a thirst on.... guess where I am going? :-)
