I've visited on a number of occasions, the gardens are beautiful.
Be aware naturist days (clearly noted on the website) tend to be very busy.

Such varied reviews but we loved it. We were in the area for a couple of nights and love gardens but the Abbey was shut but the couple that run it opened up specially for us and another small group that similarly wanted to visit. The owners were so obliging and friendly to people who turned up just out of season and that made a big impression on us. It is true that parts of the garden could do with a bit of a tidy up but it is extensive and the owners have a long term restoration project that is ongoing. The small formal gardens were a delight and I love ponds so there was plenty to enjoy. The terrace walk down to the river was well worth the effort and the imagination plays its role in thinking about Turner painting down there. We loved it and would return again and again.

Close to the Abbey - admission charge applies. A lovely mix of quite formal gardens on the higher level and then terraces leaving down to the river which you can wander around to your heart's content. There is also a small cafe by a relaxing water feature, although the coffee was disappointing.

The garden is in appalling state, no names of the plants, weeds everywhere, plants badly placed. They cant be serious charging for that!
