This house is tucked away so be sure to find it. It has been renovated beautifully by the trustees and is so beautiful. A very interesting tour by Trish about the history of the house and its renovation, which is ongoing. A very pretty garden too. There's also a lovely shop.

Loved this little gem, £3 entrance and we essentially had a private tour as nobody else had ventured out on a wet Saturday morning! Lots of drawings and artefacts of the town's history. The man on the door was obviously so proud of the museum, his insights really added to our visit. Yes it's small, but definitely worth a quick stop if you're looking around Marlborough.

What a fascinating house and the stories it has to reveal. Excellent tour guide her enthusiasm for this wonderful house and gardens is second to none! It has been sympathetically restored the main staircase is amazing. Very atmospheric house. A must to visit but check the opening times.

If you love old buildings then this is a must. It’s on the High Street and it is worth booking a tour for a walk back into history. You are allowed to touch things and the mousetrap in the kitchen is ingenious! The colours and decoration of the period are surprising bright and pretty. I really enjoyed the grand salon which went across the entire front of the house where the owner, a wealthy silk-merchant, would have shown the silk he had to sell to buyers’ from London (the silk consignment having landed at Bristol docks). You could picture it happening.

I hadn't looked at the web site before visiting so it was a huge treat to come across this fantastic resource. I've been studying frescoes and wallcoverings and was suddenly surrounded by a wealth of both. It was such a treat! The two people taking myself and a friend around the museum were informative and indulged my need to photograph every object while also talking to my friend about her own interests. I think the museum would suit a range of visitors and I can't believe I've lived less than 40 minutes away from it and never visited before.
