“Excellent reception”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

The house is very beautiful and comfortable, very well located for those who want to explore the region, either if you're travelling through the Kennet & Avon Canal or visiting Avebury stones.
The rooms are impeccable, the view is great and the breakfast is excellent.
I highlight the kind and very attentive host we had. Virginia did everything to make us feel at home.

We stayed here one night over the May bank holiday to attend a wedding reception on the outskirts of Marlborough. The room, breakfast, decor etc. were all lovely, but what really made our stay was Virginia's helpfulness. We had a nightmare over the two days trying to get taxis and it had taken us over an hour to get one to Ridge House from the station. We also needed to bring wine to the wedding as it was one of those rustic 'party all night' affairs in a barn, in the middle of nowhere. Virginia kindly drove us to Majestic wines in Marlborough and dropped us off so we could spend the day in town and took our wine back to the b&b, then later on in the evening she drove us to the reception... So that's more than good service. We managed to get a taxi back in the early hours, but Virginia had offered to pick us up if we got stranded. On top of being a relaxing place to stay this kind of service made what could have been quite a logistically stressful time, a very enjoyable one. Thanks Virginia!

Can't really add anything to the other reviews , because they are ALL spot on !!!

Virginia couldn't have been more helpful , view from my room was wonderful !!

Ideally situated within a couple of miles of Marlborough and Avebury , with several good pubs nearby, one within walking distance called Who'd a thought it !!, which served great food .

EXCELLENT

Virginia could not have done more to make us welcome and comfortable. Our room was spotless, but the highlight was the warm welcome and the high quality of the food we enjoyed. When we made our booking Virginia asked if we would like supper in, what a great decision that was. Virginia is an excellent cook. Highly recommended.

We are an elderly couple (91 and 89) Mary is nearly blind. We know the area well as it is within an hour's drive of home. Anyone wanting to explore the delights of this part of Witshire with it's fine landscapes, woods, Ridgeway and Grimmsditch walks, Kennet Avon canal walks and many ancient sites, then this is the place to stay.
Our hostess was very kind and thoughtful so we were made to feel at home at once.
The room standard is very good (we had the double en suite)
One excellent feature is the availability of an evening meal, unusual in a B&B nowadays. Breakfast and evening meals were really excellent and all prepared and cooked from fresh. The hostess is a cordon bleu cook.
Another plus is the ample parking near the front door.
Over the years we have stayed in very many Guest Houses and Hotels. Ridge House is one of the few right at the top of our list and we would recommend it very highly.

Room Tip: The double en suite room has a lovely view over the valley to West Woods and is very comforable.
