Really comfortable beds and quiet - not expected for a pub. We stayed above the stables at the back. The beds all have memory foam matresses we learnt later. Pub very welcoming. Marlborough is charming with a good range of restaurants. Would use again.

Room Tip: Ask for the Rooms above the old Stables

Nice room, the bed looked like it would be uncomfortable, but I was happily incorrect. The Steak & Kidney pie I had for dinner was absolutely wonderful with the buttery mashed potatoes and fresh veggies w/gravy. The young bartender, Tom? - was very nice to talk to and full of area information.
Breakfast was typical - not really perfect for an American - but tasty & filling.
Price was OK - maybe a bit on the high side, but all in all a very nice stay.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Stalls (#2) - stairway was extremely steep. View of small central courtyard / outsi...

Had a night stay on our way to Heathrow. Very warm welcome from the staff, comfortable bed & excellent food. Loved Marlborough & will definitely return for a couple of nights next time, I can highly recommend .

We stayed in the stables which are across the courtyard. First impressions aren't great as there is stuff/rubbish everywhere - in the courtyard this includes a collection of big vegetable oil cans, an old sofa (maybe for smokers) and sundry odds and ends scattered about. It all looks untidy and doesn't feel clean, either. The light up to our room didn't work, which was noticed by the girl taking us up, but not sorted out. In another room the main light did not work. The room itself had everything we needed and was clean. The bed was old and however good a topper had been added (previous comment) it offered little support and plenty of roll-together. The decor in the rooms was dated but it was fine for a stopover. Breakfast was ok, good bacon and sausage. The pub itself is great, traditional and unspoilt. The owners and staff are friendly, clearly doing something right as the pub is a local favourite.

I stayed here with friends as part of a walking group last month and could not have asked for nicer and more welcoming break than I got at The Lamb Inn. The staff were all very very friendly and extremely accommodating and made sure we were all well looked after throughout our stay. My room was lovely, it had everything I needed and was nice and clean (something I am very particular about). A delicious breakfast was included and had by us all: I am a vegetarian and had a scrumptious cooked breakfast whilst most of my friends went for the full english (meaty version) and they were all very complimentary of theirs also. I could not fault my stay here and look forward to coming back to stay again in the summer next time we pass through (which a number of us have already booked).

Walking in, were shown to our rooms, conferred with friends who we were travelling with & all agreed to leave without bringing our bags out of the car. Staff very pleasant about it. The rooms did not bear much resemblance to the pictures on the web-site. There was lots of random stuff just lying around, it all looked untidy and unclean. All this opinion is based upon a quick first impression but unfortunately it was not favourable.

Very small room could hear noise from bar. Shower either burning or freezing and bed was very uncomfortable and small! Not suitable for anyone over 5"7! Tatty furniture, mediocre breakfast could have cooked better myself, and we were asked on check in! (no menu btw just asked what we wanted). Room was clean enough but not worth £70 could get a nicer travel lodge. Good location as town centre and staff behind the bar are friendly. Just dissapointed we expected more.

We are very concerned about your experience at The Lamb. To answer your complaints about us. Our beds are all at least standard single or double beds with memory foam matress tops and top grade pillows. Our showers are electric and therefore controlled by the user. We pride ourselves on our breakfasts using very good quality ingredients including free range eggs and locally made sausages. We ask for people to order their breakfasts the night before as some guests have plans for the following day and this enables them to be away promptly. Any alterations can be made at any time. No complaints about any of these difficulties were made during your stay when we could have done our best to rectify them. As we have no idea when you stayed and in what room it's difficult to coment on the size and specific furniture but we pride ourselves in the comfort of our rooms. We would stress that we are a pub and therefore some noise must be expected from the bar but we don't have late drinking hours specifically for the comfort of our guests.
