This is a very nice looking gastro pub in our local town. I had been looking forward to my first experience here for a while, and was very hopeful that it would become the place I take my son out at weekends. Friendly service, reasonably quick with drinks, etc. were a good start in a pretty garden. it was a very hot day, and the menu didn't seem to reflect the need for cool, light refreshing food. I ordered a salad with 'heritage' tomatoes, artichoke, goats cheese, parsnip crisps and lettuce. When it came, there was not much in it apart from tomatoes, lettuce and one tiny piece of cheese. I sent it back as I was very disappointed - especially as it was the cost of a main course. The next effort at a salad took ages to arrive and was mostly heavily fried chicken with lettuce and a few shavings of Parmesan . By the tine it did arrive, everyone else at our table had long since finished. My son said his chips were over cooked and also very greasy.
As this pub is setting itself up to be 'The Posh Pub ' in Marlborough, I think it needs to seriously pull its socks up, and produce better food. Will not be going back any time soon.
