My wife and I spent a fantastic weekend celebrating my birthday in a wonderful horse drawn gypsy caravan. This is the second time we have had the delight of this amazing experience and it won't be the last.
Polly the owner is a friendly and welcoming person, as are her grooms - Popsie and Jennie
The stars of the show are the horses. Ned and King, both gypsy cobs. They are sweet natured, gentle and they love to be stroked and groomed.
Even if you have never been around horses, you will be instructed and guided on how to look after them and everything you will need to know for driving them on the road. During the trip you will definitely bond with your horse. The grooms accompany you every step of the way so your not on your own
The route will take you through the country lanes wish are full of stunning views of this beautiful part of Wiltshire. If you are lucky you might even see some stunning wildlife.
You stop on route at some delightful country pubs. That serve up amazing food, so you won't go hungry. The landlord of The Seven Stars is very jolly and welcoming.
On your second night you stay in a quiet secluded spot. Where you have the chance to cook your own breakfast over an open fire next to a little river.
To sum it up this experience is completely unique and gives you the chance to take life at a slower pace. I recommend it to everyone
i must i admit not being a horsey person i was a bit unsure about this trip with my husband and daughter but i really enjoyed everything about it even the rain didnt matter.Polly is a lovely welcoming person who made the holiday flow so well.if you want something different this is the one to do
From the moment we arrived and were shown to our gorgeous wagon in Polly's garden to the fond farewells at the end of the weekend we felt we were being treated to a unique exciting bespoke experience. We fell in love with Bob our horse and thanks to Polly and Pops learned much about the life of traditional gypsies. The wild camp-out by the stream was out of this world and the children were thrilled to find themselves riding Bob bareback! Thank you for making it such a memorable and enchanting weekend.
This was an amazing experience, truly magical and would so recommend it. We booked it as a surprise trip for our Horse Mad daughter for her 10th Birthday and she adored it. We spent the first night in the caravan in Polly's beautiful garden and then had wonderful first day... getting our pony Ned from his field, grooming him and harnessing him up. It was so great to be so hands on. We had a beautiful ride through the amazing countryside of wide open fields with beautiful villages and lots of thatched cottages to the first pub. ( The Golden Swan) A restful few hours and great food eaten we headed on the second leg of the trip to the next pub where we had a fire pit and enjoyed marshmallows over the fire as pudding after an excellent first course in the Seven Stars pub. The next day was another perfect one ... tacking up, grooming and then another leg to another great pub with a few hours eating, drinking and chilling by the caravan, We then headed back to Polly's garden for our final night and a sad farewell to what had been a great trip. This is the stuff memories are made of and would massively recommend it. The groom Simon came along with us on the road and walked ahead and near to the caravan to manage the passing traffic but we drove the Caravan which we loved. But Simon certainly reduced the stress and helped us to relax into the experience. Ned our horse was amazing and even my slightly non horse friendly husband loved him. Polly couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. All in all a wonderful trip....
This was our first time in a gypsy caravan and we had an amazing time from start to finish. Polly is an absolute delight, so welcoming and can't do enough for you. We combined two trips into a week and came home so relaxed. Our horse Ned was a star, so calm and people friendly, he loved the attention and gave us a smooth ride, I was apprehensive about horses but by the end of the first day was plaiting his tail and confident to put on his tack. Our guides simon and popsy were very helpful and informative about the area as well as the local history. We loved cooking on the open fire and made a spatchcock chicken and jacket potatoes. The caravan has everything you need for a comfortable stay, I can't over emphasise how much we all loved our holiday, we would definitely do it again.
This is a really special holiday. The owner Polly is so warm and welcoming. The horses are truly wonderful - so full of character and also so tolerant! Popsy the groom who came with us was so knowledgeable and let us do exactly as much as we wanted to as well as teaching us loads. The caravan itself is beautiful. We all four of us really enjoyed this weekend and although it was only 3 days it felt so much longer in fact we felt we had gone to another world and experienced something really new.
