Got a great deal to stay for a couple of nights. Never been to Wiltshire but stayed with old english inn before.

Room was uneven but big and very comfortable strange having different height ceiling in room but loved it.

Had Sunday lunch, dinner and two breakfast all very good as were specials. Would recommend. Especially Trish our waitress very friendly.

All in all a would stay here again visit and if you want to find somewhere in area I would recommend.

Really enjoy our two nights here.

A lovely review, thank you. I hope you managed to see a lot of the area, Wiltshire is a great place to visit, so much to see and do, and its lovely to hear you liked the 'quickyness' of the building.
Thank you for your comments about the food, and I shall pass this on to Trish, who, as I'm sure you can imagine, is invaluable to us.

With this company we had a booking with the Bear in Hungerford about 10 miles away but with the floods etc the Bear had no electricity so we were transferred to the castle and ball.

We were welcomed by Nigel the manager he gave us our key and a slip of paper for free car parking whilst staying at the hotel.

The room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park.It was a bit small and rather dark, a reasonable size bathroom and clean,we didn't let this spoil our stay.

The breakfast was excellent the evening meal was cheap but if you were staying for four days or more the menu did not change much. The hotel was in an very good position on the high street with plenty of shops to look around and whilst looking around we had tea and a cake at Polly's just over the road you might have to wait to get a table but it,s worth it.

Will stay at this hotel sometime soon.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the front and if you can afford a superior room do we looked at them the day w...

I am so sorry you didn't get to stay at The Bear, but great to hear you enjoyed staying with us. A visit to The Polly Tearooms is a must for anyone coming to Marlborough and I'm agree that it is worth waiting for a table if they are busy.
I hope you get to stay at The Bear next time, Hungerford is a lovely town to visit.

This hotel is in a great location. The room was a nice size & the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. We did not eat here in the evening though so cannot comment on the food in the evening.

Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Marlborough.

Stayed here for one night on business. Good car parking and quick check in with very friendly staff. Booked a 'Superior Room' to try and get a bit more space and quality. The room was ok but certainly not 'superior' as it was quite small and the en suite was really small to the extent that I couldn't get to the sink without closing the door. Also no sockets beside the bed to charge my phone and use it as an alarm. Room was quiet despite facing on to High Street.

Breakfast promised a lot and delivered little. It was meagre in size to say the least and was really bland. The sausage (singular) didn't taste of much at all and the bacon was chewy and insipid with the fat not crispy. The grilled mushroom (singular) had been 'dried out' under the grill with no oil or butter being put on 'it'. It was rubbery with no taste.

Overall disappointing but very close to being good with a bit more thought.

We stayed for 2 nights as part of the Tesco deals with family and ate on the Friday evening. The place was packed for lunch and dinner and the staff worked tirelessly with a smile on their face all the time. The rooms, (No 36), were large and clean with wonderful bathrooms. Despite a room on the front, it was silent at night due to the excellent interior double glazing. Free parking as well. Highly recommend for a weekend break.

Room Tip: Very steep stairs so best stay low if not good with steps.

Sounds like you had a great time which is always lovely to hear. Rooms on the second floor over looking the High Street don't seem to be too noisey and you get the great view of the town.
I will let the staff know about your comments, thank you very much.

We had not booked to stay here which is part of the Old English Inn chain, however we thought we would try out their restaurant for a future occasion. Well it was brilliant we were served by a young man, Sean, who could not be more helpful in respect of the menu and generally about the town of Marlborough. We would not hesitate to recommend this establishment for the quality and value of the food and the welcoming atmosphere of everyone concerned.
