Arrived late Friday night at the kings arms, music going on thought oh no BUT what a reception, so friendly. We were so tired we thought put cases in room have one drink them off to bed but no the welcome we got ,everyone was so friendly Chris, Jade lovely people who run the hotel and the customers (steve& Jason) to name a few, and the staff made you feel welcome. The music brill 80's went off at 12 (that's when we went to bed). The room was cosy, bed was very comfortable, good power shower, a bath, and tea/ coffee plus water which was a nice touch ,good choice of breakfasts you could leave on a full stomach and it would see you through the day( great).Went back to the hotel Sat night about 10 and had a few night caps with friends and was surprised to the noise level Very little even though the pub/hotel is in the middle of town (and im a light sleeper).Overall well done Chris/Jade who have only been there 2 months have made a lovely place to stay and have already booked up to back in November. Room Tip: Please bear this in mind when you book the kings arms ,it is a pub/hotel that caters for weddings et...

My husband and I stayed here for one night to break the long journey home from South Wales.

On arrival we were greeted by James who was friendly, welcoming and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable and the en suite had a bath as well as overhead shower with plenty of hot water.

There is free parking at the hotel as well as free WIFI which is easy to access and worked well.

Breakfast was good. A selection of juices and cereals as well as a fresh fruit cocktail followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice. Coffee or tea was served by a smiling waitress with refills readily available.

We spoke to the manager about a couple of tiny issues we found in the room, not to complain but just to make her aware, she said she would see to it and I'm sure she did.

We enjoyed our stay at The Kings Arms and would definately stay there again if in the area.

Would we recommend this hotel to a friend?.... absolutely yes.

Room Tip: Any room is good in this lovely old building.

We are visiting from Australia and stayed here for just one night on 19 April 2014 and wished we had the time to stay longer. Hard to fault - clean, comfortable rooms, excellent menu, friendly and efficient staff, lots of little touches that made a differences, and a perfect place to base yourself for exploring local areas.

Myself and my partner stayed here, Saturday 12th April 2014. We booked a week before this. We arrived after a long haul drive, at around 7pm that eve. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Unfortunately that warm welcome quickly became a vacant look of confusion. We showed them our booking details, they had absolutely no idea who we were. Left to stand in a busy bar with our luggage a member of staff went off to check the hotel emails. After some time we were told our email had been lovingly placed in the delete folder. Luckily for us there was one spare room, but looking at previous reviews on this site you'll see that others weren't so lucky.

Fully aware mistakes happen but read the reviews for yourself, same problem occurring on various occasions.

We were offered a free drink with our meal. Credit to the chief, food was nice.

Bar was a lively place to be, offensive language in high volumes, drunks singing you to sleep for several hours, even a window being smashed. No expense sparred from the local hospitality, what a treat!

All of which wouldn't be a huge problem, if of course you were out on a jolly up / heavy session with your mates!

Picture this kind of bar, now you have to ask yourself would you offer this to family's with young children, perhaps even the elderly, or just anyone who you generally like?

Bathroom had no complementary soap!

Good points, food 6 out of 10 regarding value for money. Staff friendly even when vacant expressions were being exchanged on arrival. Rooms clean enough. Melksham seems like a pleasant place to stay.

Would we stay at this (hotel) again?

Not while I've got a hole in my Ar£$e!!!!!

Room Tip: Go in after 10 pints for a good night out with your mates, but sleep somewhere quieter, like an airp...
