“Attracted by the outside”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

We called en route to a National Trust property. We had a basic lunch in the bar and it was just that...OK. The owners were sat in the bar and there was a lot of local chat going on with some huggable local characters. We thought our money was well spent on a holiday experience rather than the 'middle of the road' food.

“homemade food”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

We found The Bell Inn on our way home from National Trust property, Great Chalford Manor. We were looking for a quick bite to eat for our toddler and 5 yr old before a 1.5 hr journey home. They don't start serving evening meals till 6pm, but ours was ready at 5.45pm, 15 mins after we ordered it. I love cooking and am often frustrated at paying out for meals out which aren't homemade and taste reheated. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked and homemade. My husband and I had homemade fishcakes with a dressed salad and chips...I struggled to finish mine. The girls shared ham (3 thick, tasty slices) and a double fried egg and chips. We all really enjoyed our food. The dining area was tastefully decorated, the bar traditional with a copper theme. The place was spotlessly clean inc the ladies loo...I would say this is the cleanest place we have eaten in a very long time and I can't remember eating anywhere where all our party had fresh, non reheated food, piping hot too and on sparkling.

“Meal in the bar”
Reviewed 2 March 2013 via mobile

Just finished a lovely meal off the specials board, fillet steak, dauphinois potatoes, sugar snap peas and French beans, cleared the plate. Decided to eat in public bar to be near the lovely fire. My husband had the duck starter followed by moules in a creamy sauce with ciabatta bread. He also cleared the lot. Well worth a visit...

“New Owners & superb food!!”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

Popped in to sample to the new menus. Had heard there was new owners so thought we would give it a try. There was quite a few of us so we all had a wide variety of dishes and not one plate had food left on it. The atmosphere was great, staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. Will definately go back again.
