Uninterested landlady, bland food, go to the Fox instead, it is a world away from this bored pub. Great location to be fair just a shame it is so poor

Been away for 20years but little changes. This old world traditional Pub/Restaurant is still the same despite redecoration and new landlords. Centre of the community home to the Cricket Club, Football Club and the Bowls Club whose Club is immediately adjacent. Good food in the Restaurant a good variety of bar snacks and excellent Wadworths 6x beer. Usually a guest ale available. Friendly staff and pleasant landlords. A good place to meet old friends and acquaintances.

Just returned from the Bell after an excellent meal. On arrival the restaurant was quiet, however there were 8 in our party so it was quite handy. The menu is varied and had something for every one. The meals all arrived quickly, the portions were good and everything was hot. The steaks were excellent, cooked exactly as we had asked, I frequently send steak back because it's poor or not cooked as I have asked, not so here the chef is brilliant. All the food is home made, and clearly top quality. This was a great find for us and we will certainly be returning.

Took the family over for Sunday Lunch, The restaurant has been decorated which makes it lovely and bright and fresh, We all had starters, Warm Duck salad and homemade terrine, which was really good. Roast Beef all round for mains, really good Sunday Roast, homemade gravy, veg was piping hot, nice roast potatoes and extra gravy. The meat was tender and rare which is how we asked for it.;) My Daughters Sunday roast was really a very good size for a child's portion and this comes with a drink & ice-cream for £6.50. bargain! Lovely staff and very helpful. Lovely pub only 5 mins from Melksham. really worth a visit. ;)

We called en route to a National Trust property. We had a basic lunch in the bar and it was just that...OK. The owners were sat in the bar and there was a lot of local chat going on with some huggable local characters. We thought our money was well spent on a holiday experience rather than the 'middle of the road' food.
