Very good food and good service. Visited here one evening while on holiday on canal. Correct amount of wait time inbetween courses even though pub was busy.

Recommended by our b&b owner, not easy to find but well worth it.Situated just over a bridge right next to a canal.A little cold to eat outside but sat next to a window so we could see the barges on the river, food order was taken promptly, and did not take too long to arrive-was well presented and more than enough. No pressure put on you to leave as soon as you had finished so had time to enjoy the comings and goings of the barges into the locks just upriver.
Main clientele appears to be those on barges and casual visitors like us.

Stopped here for lunch last Sunday, lovely sunny day so not surprisingly for a canal side location, the car park was nearly full. Lots of customers inside and out but managed to find a free table outside, ordered drinks and picked up a menu. A reasonable selection on the menu, though I was surprised that the outside BBQ wasn't being used. We ordered the roast chicken and the fish & leek pie, both arrived incredibly quickly, in fact just as we had sat back down from ordering. Food was tasty and generous, well cooked, only comment, the fish pie was a little dry.
Lots of staff ensured tables cleared quickly so fast turnaround of customers. Reasonable value for money in pleasant surroundings

What an excellent position for a pub, by the canal with beautiful barges alongside. The interior has lovely touches such as barge painted milk churn barge stools. We sat by the window and watched the canal while we ate. We had four starters and five mains, the steak was good, as were the sausages. The staff were charming especially as we booked and changed our time twice. We went on our last evening or we would have gone again. We did not have puddings.
