Booked into Well Manor House for a Saturday overnight in Melksham. Situated near the town centre a detached old house with 5 guest rooms surrounded by its own gardens and with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was the equal of many 4 star hotels, the bed was extremely comfortable and the room well fitted out. We didn't stay for breakfast because we were pressed for time but I note that it was only a continental breakfast.
Overall good quality well recommended.

Booked this for a quick stop-over en route to somewhere else and it was perfect. The rooms and bathrooms are beautifully appointed, towels thick and fluffy, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've every slept in while staying away. In short, everything you'd expect from a top hotel but with the informality of a B&B. The continental breakfast was a sociable affair around the communal dining table, although it would have been nice to have a bigger selection of fresh breads rather than just the sliced bread for toast. The garden is lovely too - a good place for afternoon tea if the weather is nice. Highly recommended.

Looking for a weekend stay in the Melksham area, the Wells House Manor hotel, was selected and what a selection. Friendly reception, friendly staff, quality fittings and furnishings great Sunday morning continental breakfast... If you're looking for a weekend break... This hotel should be at the top of your list. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Fitness and swimming pool - not terrible, just not applicable.

I booked well house manor as a last minute thing to get a weekend away with my wife. Before we arrived I emailled to ask for a quiet room and some advice on a couple things in Bath. Lisa replied in no time with everything I needed plus more. On arrival Heather looked after us showed us the facillites and made us a pot of tea while we unpacked to enjoy on the patio of the lovely garden. She was so helpful and when asked pointed us to a fantastic place to eat that night. The rooms are spacious decorated to a high standard with everything you need. If anything was missing, which it wasnt, we were told to just ask. I was a little reserved about the continental breakfast but needn't have been with everything on offer there was no need for the full english. We were greeted by Graham who again was attentive and friendly. On the whole amazing place with staff who cannot do enough for you. What was a last minute choice is now going to be a firm revisit and fully recommended place to stay. If you want to stay in the area look no further and with only 5 rooms i'll be booking early next time. Thanks to all at the well house manor for a relaxing weekend.

Stayed here on business in March 2013. Great little place. Staff were so helpful and friendly, couldn't do enough for you when required, yet inconspicuous at the same time. More like a boutique hotel than a B&B - would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Room Tip: WIFI signal didn't reach my room, so ask for one within range if this is important to you.

Ostensibly advertised and promoted as a business hotel/B&B, this well run clean and spacious place is equally suitable for couples on holiday in the area.

Very warm and informative welcome, well-trained and friendly staff and all the plug sockets and wifi you could want (Well House also runs I.T. courses).

Our room was very clean, modern and comfortable. The mattress was super soft and there was ample and plush seating. A spacious bathroom with an amazing double shower and underfloor heating.

Our only gripe was that we could hear road noise due to the lack of double glazing, but we're from the country and not used to town living! There was no noise pollution from other guests. The town center was a mere three minute walk away.

Breakfast was a very acceptable continental serve yourself affair.

The owner was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and was happy to spend time with us discussing the merits of Melksham.

Room Tip: Ask for a room farthest away from the road (our room was closer).

We've just returned from a two night break here. What a treat it was! The property is immaculate and stylish, the hosts welcoming and utterly charming. We took our spaniel, who was made warmly welcome everywhere except (quite rightly) the breakfast room, and for the first time in our experience was provided with a bed and bowl. There is an enclosed garden at the rear of the property where he could be safely off lead for early morning and late evening ablutions. The cold buffet breakfast was delicious and we particularly enjoyed being able to squeeze our own orange juice to have excellent fresh coffee from the sophisticated machine. The mattress, bed linen, towels and toiletries were all of top quality. In summary you can't, in my opinion, fault this place.

We enjoyed exploring the town of Melksham and a number of stunning walks along the Kennet and Avon canal. The Caen locks were spectacular (though I was glad I was walking past them rather than negotiating them in a boat!). We ate at the excellent Bell Inn and the more scenic (and more expensive) Barge Inn at Seend.

It was a splendid short break and I hope to return.
