We decided to hold our xmas staff night out at the Queens. There were over 50 of us.
The meals were all hot and no one had to wait to be served. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great.
We'll defo go back next year.

Boxing Day morning.................Nothing open.......................
By chance I called into the Queens Royal............any chance of a Breakfast????
I could see that the Restaurant was fully set out for the impending Boxing Day Lunch, so my heart sank a little.
However, the lady who met me immediately said, NO PROBLEM.
WOW, super service.
I was the only one there, I did expect other diners to be tucking into breaky, i.e. the incumbent Hotel Guests.........no.....just me?
Still, within a very short period of time, got my breakfast, lots of top up coffee......super super service and all for £5.50.
That is REAL value for money.....VFM.
Thanks again for sorting out a weary traveller, I could have got the response of: COMPUTER SAY NO.

Firstly reception at the hotel is a bit strange, it's tucked into a corner of the dining room. The bedrooms are through quite an obscure door.

However our room (8) was very nice, it was clean and bright and was en-suite, tho I think some rooms aren't and we had a lovely view of the sea.

We had lunch in the bar and although the food was ok and not too badly priced I wish we had eaten in the restaurant as in the evening it was packed.

The cooked breakfast was very nice, and the sausage the nicest I have had in a while in a hotel.
No yoghurt or fruits provided tho there were cereals.

We were going to a show at the Floral Pavillion and would definitely return again

Room Tip: We stayed in room 8 very nice with lovely view

My family and I called in without booking last night at 8pm, when we walked in the restaurant was totally empty. This should of been a sign to us, but we went in anyway and asked for a table, the receptionist looked at their watch and then agreed to let us stay, another sign you may say.
We were given a grotty laminated menu and was able to choose quickly, as two of the items were not available, another sign. We ordered the steak.
Whe it arrived it looked quite delicious, you can imagine my relief, which was short lived. The steak was tougher to cut and eat than the worn leather from my husbands boots! Not once were we approached for more drinks, to check how our meal was or to see if we required any thing else. It's not like they were run off their feet!
After finishing our meal, well I say finishing, I mean fighting with the waiter finally approached asking if we required dessert, of course you would think nothing could go wrong, but we dared not take the chance.
I approached the reception for the bill and told them how disappointed we were and was given an apology and informed that they we were short staffed.
Please take warning from us, a far nicer meal can be bought from a drive through!

Room Tip: Don't go!

This hotel had the idea of having a Berni Inns Evening experience on Saturday 5th Oct 2013 and I believe they are hoping to do this once a month. GIVE IT A MISS. I attended last night with three of my family. The menu is very basic not like the original Berni Inns. To start with you had a choice of Prawn Cocktail, Tomato Soup, Mushrooms with stilton. Three of the party had Prawn Cocktail. My wives cocktail consisted of nine prawns in a sauce a bit of lettuce and two bits of brown bread. What a joke. The main consisted of two types of steak, Rump, Rib Eye, Sea bass & Prawns or half a Chicken All the party had Rump steak .I asked for mine to be Medium Cooked. The steak was so tough I could have used it as a sole for my shoes. I decided to have a sweet and a Gaelic Coffee. The coffee arrived and to me it was just a coffee couldn't taste any whiskey. I asked all the party to taste it and all agreed that if there was whiskey it was the very minimal. It could only get better I thought. I asked for a Black Forrest Gateaux ( the only member of the party to do so as by now all were discussed with the meal) . When it arrived it was so small like it had been cut with a razor blade that I refused to accept it and told the waiter to take it back as I was not prepared to pay £4.25 for it. What was more disappointing was the owner was on site and at no time came and asked what the problem was or apologise .This event was nothing like a Berni Inns experience and if fact was a insult to there memory. I have eaten at the Queens on a few occasions in the past but THIS WAS A COMPLETE JOKE AND A COSTLY NIGHT as all items were priced separately . I would advised to give this place a miss, I will NEVER RETURN
