We were charged 75.00 per night. The room was dirty, dusty in need of redecoration. Rust in the bathroom, toilet seat didn't fit properly. Headboard dirty, mattress that old you could feel every spring, hence didn't have a good nights sleep. Paintwork all chipped Bedding a sheet and an old fashioned blanket. Not worthy of a tarrif of 75.00.

Hotel was a little tired, but we felt it had more character than the nearby Chain hotel.
We stayed here for a wedding, day and night.

Staff did their best and are pleasant. We found the drinks pricier than they should have been but you are a captive audience at a wedding.

We stayed in one of the top floor rooms and thus had a sea view which was nice.

This was not a place we would have normally stayed but it did the job with the wedding in mind. The room itself was one of the refurbished and thus was what we expected.

It has some character as said and therefore I can see the attraction with the hotels own Rolls Royce for weddings.

The wedding food was nice.

Room Tip: Get a sea view and a refurbished room

We booked this hotel for honeymoon trip via booking.com, the daily charge is £75.
However, when we arrived by taxi, the taxi driver help us to knock the door and call the phone of Hollins Hey Hotel for more than half hour. No one open the door or answer the phone. We need to find another hotel. And our credit card was charged by Hollins Hey Hotel as no show.
Cheater!!!

Our visit was to attend a family wedding reception nearby, and The Hollins Hey was ideally located for it.

We had a quick look on-line to see what it was like, read some reviews, then we booked it.

The hotel was maybe not a modern place like the Travelodges or Premier Inns that seem to be everywhere these days. It was an old, period place with much more character than nearby modern chain hotels.

The first room we were allocated had a wonderful view of the car park. We asked if this could be changed to a sea view, and Bruno sorted this out with the very minimum of fuss.

We were then put into room 2, which overlooked the bay (very nice), and had a four poster bed. The room was very comfortable, though the shower did take some getting used to, this was the only fault we could find. The temperature ranged from freezing to scalding!!

We had our evening meal their on the Friday night, and the food was lovely with good generous portions. No complaints there :)

All in all, if you want a modern shiny, soulless hotel to stay in, then the Hollins Hey isn't for you.

If you want a place with lots of character, then book it, you won't regret it. Ian and Bruno will look after you.

We will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Room 2 had a very good view across the bay, and was surprisingly quiet. Room 1's view was the car park, but the luxury bathroom made up for that.

The pictures on the hotel website are totally misleading to the actual condition of this hotel. It is very shabby and the room (4) I was presented with on Saturday evening was in an unbelievable state of disrepair. There were holes in the doors both the outer door and the bathroom door, the carpet was stained and the walls all scratched and the wallpaper torn from the walls.Worst of all the room was extremely smoky, there was hot water coming out of the cold tap and we were expected to pay £80 with an additional charge of £10 each for breakfast. I requested to be moved to another room but the manager said the hotel was full and it was not possible to move. I said I was not prepared to pay the full amount and he agreed I would pay £55. He then changed his mind and said he could move some other guests out of another room so we coudl move in. This room was slightly better but still not worth £80. We were totally messed around and this is not I expected when checking in to a hotel. My daughter was particularly upset about this because the three rooms had been booked well before Christmas as a gift for me.

Room Tip: I saw no evidence of any good rooms
