Booked twin room with sea view, given twin over looking car park - told couldn't be moved as someone checked into the room we had booked! Then offered a double room each, on different floors! Said we'd stay put but asked for full Eng b'fast as gesture of goodwill, which we got. Wedding taking place on day of arrival so car park full and we had to park on main road. No assistance offered with bags etc and our room was on the 2nd floor - no lift! Upon our return from night out (friend's birthday bash) kept awake from 1.30am til gone 6am by rowdy drunken yobs in next room - noise constant despite two complaints to them (the first being very polite! the second not so much!!) - wedding guests who trashed their room and fled without paying! Imagine how the bride and groom must have felt! Manager couldn't apologise enough and didn't charge us for our room. Manager and staff helpful and courteous, inside of hotel has character, good breakfast and service, our room was basic - shabby without the chic but comfortable. Ideal location. Recommend to friends? Yes but ensure you get the room you booked and certainly not when a wedding taking place ;)

Have used this hotel several times to stay and for several functions. The service is impeccable, The big fella Ian looks after you so well. Panic is not in his vocab. And he delivers what he promises. Food is exceptional and high quality. Breakfast is superb. Gardens and the view are amazing. Rooms and prices are great value. I would not hesitate to return

We have stayed a number of times. Having seen some of the other reviews on here I must stress that the hotel offers excellent value for money. Some of the cheaper rooms usually cater for work men so are a little run down but if you are looking for something more up market I recommend paying the extra for one of there refurbished rooms. Me & my wife are big foodies & find the quality of food superb. Finally & most importantly we would like to thank there staff for the 5* profesional service. Sayers family

Attended a wedding at the hollins.hey and can honestly say it was fabulous, this hotel has plenty of character staff helpful to attend to peoples needs, silver service and food was impecible everything ran so smoothly. Drinks prices not expensive like some weddings you go to. We stayed the night and found our 4 poster suite to be lovely decorated and great view. I would reccomend this place to anybody. Thankyou ian.and staff

We were charged 75.00 per night. The room was dirty, dusty in need of redecoration. Rust in the bathroom, toilet seat didn't fit properly. Headboard dirty, mattress that old you could feel every spring, hence didn't have a good nights sleep. Paintwork all chipped Bedding a sheet and an old fashioned blanket. Not worthy of a tarrif of 75.00.

Hotel was a little tired, but we felt it had more character than the nearby Chain hotel.
We stayed here for a wedding, day and night.

Staff did their best and are pleasant. We found the drinks pricier than they should have been but you are a captive audience at a wedding.

We stayed in one of the top floor rooms and thus had a sea view which was nice.

This was not a place we would have normally stayed but it did the job with the wedding in mind. The room itself was one of the refurbished and thus was what we expected.

It has some character as said and therefore I can see the attraction with the hotels own Rolls Royce for weddings.

The wedding food was nice.

Room Tip: Get a sea view and a refurbished room
