Caravan hard pitches were gravel and not much grass for sitting outside/bbq etc half grass/half dirt. Toilets nearest us were like festival toilets, showers were OK but not that clean or warm. Fresh water tap was like a mud pit because not on gravel and no pipe so had to pick up water roller. Was nice and quiet though, even though lots of people on site.

Me and my family stayed at Hopleys for the bank holiday weekend. We were very dissapointed ! The noise levels were ridiculous, partys went on until 2 am, camp fires were burning far too close to tents,we were covered in ash and could not sit outside due to the amount of smoke, i felt this was extremely dangerous when we had embers falling everywhere!
On a positive note, the rustic was amazing ! Views were beatutiful, it could be a lovely site if the rules were followed !!!

This review is being written with the benefit of a few days cooling off in a lovely family campsite... which wasn't Hopleys!

We booked Hopleys on the basis that it was a family campsite as we were taking my daughter camping for the first time.

However, that family friendly experience is not what we had. We booked a grass site and arrived Friday evening. On arrival, we struggled to find a pitch as there were several large groups that had taken over the "free pitch" areas but found a corner in the Paddock that was relatively quiet. It was serviced by portaloo toilets and shower block but walking distance of a main block. We did notice on arriving that there was a lot of noise and large groups but assumed it would settle down later on. A bank holiday weekend with good weather is always going to mean a busy campsite.

Unfortunately, it didn't settle down at all. We discovered that the portaloos and showers were very dirty and the main block was not much better. Both blocks totalled 5 toilets and 2 showers for women and less for men and were scattered with cut grass, paper and stains. The hand dryer in the mobile unit didn't work and two doors stuck badly when closed- my daughter got trapped in one and seriously bruised her hand trying to get out.

The campsite rules state that dogs must be on the lead at all times, guests must not disturb others and there must be silence after 11pm.

Dogs were running free throughout the site. One near us had a lead trailing as he ran, tripped and nearly catapulted into our fire pit.

By 10.30pm, there were still very high noise levels (including three competing stereos) and we called the out of hours number, leaving a message. We waited 15 mins in case the owners were dealing with it but got no call back. Noise levels did not drop and so we called again. My partner spoke to James Hopley and was basically told that he'd just been down and serviced the toilets, there was no noise and everything was fine.

We finally got my daughter to sleep but with a background of screaming kids, loud laughing adults, at least one stereo and neighbours who decided to break up more pallets with a hammer at midnight for their fire. There also seemed to be children on mini moto bikes racing on the main path after midnight.

The site was not quiet until after 2am.

The following morning, we simply packed up and asked for a refund. We didn't brave the showers. A refund for our two additional nights was given as we left but with bad grace. Having voiced concerns with James (politely but firmly and with no aggression), he disputed, then sighed and quite rudely shrugged his shoulders while shoving cash in our direction.

To sum up - a perfect site if you're travelling in a large group and aren't fussed about high noise levels late into the night. Adults can sit round a fire and let the kids run riot and the management won't do anything to intervene. After all, the site makes more money off you than a single family on holiday.

This place won't suit you if you prefer somewhere family orientated and clean.

We haven't camped here yet but popped up as we live locally, for food. We had pizzas which were lovely, and drinks. Very reasonably priced. There was actually a festival on which we didn't know so it was very busy but they were still happy to serve us even though we didn't go into the festival. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Lovely and clean with great toilet facilities. Definitely will be going again for food and camping!

Hopley`s campsite is great for families and is close to many tourist spots, also handy for local pubs, shops etc although there is also a farm shop on site if you need urgent supplies and dont feel like going anywhere else. There is also a cafe on site and lots of room for the pitches for tents and hook ups for electric and hard standings for the vans. There is a new Shower and Toilet block that is kept well cleaned and the site is a picturesque quiet place to relax. There is sometimes entertainment on also in Summer but ask the owners when this is on as it is worth watching the bands. They have a licensed bar also. Great all year camping with a lot of good walking country at hand in the Wyre Forrest, very peaceful and tranquil but also close to towns, and tourist spots for any shopping or days out. Paul Davies.
