Stayed at the Mug House for 4 days. Without exception, all the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. When you arrive pay £10 for a car park permit which allows you the use of the car park 100 yds away for your stay. When you leave, your £10 is returned - well worth this. Rooms are clean and well furnished, and the location is superb, just a few minutes walk to the town. Plenty of local places to visit. You must see the church at Witley Court Gardens, absolutely breathtaking. Also the ruins of Witley Court, and there is a very nice tearoom there selling lovely cakes. Bridgenorth is a pretty place to visit and has many quaint streets and interesting shops. Don't miss the Castle Tearooms and Restaurant at 1 East Castle Street, Bridgenorth (in the High Town). Shona and Natasha who work there are so nice and helpful, and the food is good too! Behind the Parish church are the remains of the castle, and there is a lovely walk round the castle grounds, overlooking Low Town in Bridgenorth and the Severn Valley railway. West Midlands Safari park is a great day out - 0nce you have paid, you can visit again for free.

Room Tip: Stayed with my disabled husband in the Cottage Room 1 which is adjacent to the Inn. This room has a...

We first encountered this place through the soup trail as part of the Bewdley Harvest Fair, and had a delicious leek soup served in these authentic dried leaf bowls. Also with some fresh bread, it went down nicely in the pretty garden setting at the back.

So we decided to go back there for lunch and ordered some turkey and bacon pies (in mugs!) which were quite tasty. I had pork medallions which were overdone so a little dry, but the rest of the dish was nice. One of my daughters had the pizza which looked ordinary but tasted fine.

With some local English brews, it all went down nicely and we would definitely be back again.

Loved this place. Fabulous location right on the rivers edge. You need to park your car about 1 mins walk away but the owners give you a pass and the short walk is worth it. A lovely friendly pub with a restaurant to the side (gutted not open Sunday but understand!). Rooms simple and clean all with views. Superb breakfast and nothing too much trouble. Especially loved my scrambled eggs - thank you!

Room Tip: I had the bottom one, Cottage 1 but it appears all are river view.

Visited here last night on a research trip as wanting to see if it would be a good place to have an informal 18th birthday Sunday lunch, excellent! book because it was full on a Tuesday night. I had the assiette of seafood and parents had duck and rib eye steak. All were of the highest quality, extremely well cooked, piping hot and locally sourced!

Service was excellent and the atmosphere really friendly and inviting. The location is lovely next to the river, so have booked not just for Sunday lunch, but parents have booked for New Year as well. Will now be a regular visitor!

I'v eaten here several times in the past few months, and can honestly say the food really is good. I've found it probably the best place to eat in Bewdley. Prices are reasonable, although when it's busy, service can take some time. it's really nice to eat at one of the table on the river frontage.

Stayed at The Mug House en route to Birmingham Airport last week. We'd stayed here before and were sufficiently impressed to return and bring with us the two friends we were holidaying with. Only a few yards from the River Severn the pub is in a really nice position with no traffic passing the door and consequently no noise. The bar area is quite small but well laid out with a comfortable "snug" seating area where we relaxed with a drink before being shown to our rooms. There is a good selection of local real ales on offer and the wine list is sensibly priced.
Moving on to the accommodation, we had the Rose Room which is spacious, with a comfortable four poster bed and views across the river. Very clean, decent bathroom with shower over bath, All good so far.
We had supper in the Angry Chef Restaurant which is just off the bar. Small, intimate and well laid out. The food was very good indeed and the waiting staff were friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We all enjoyed our meal immensely. Everything still well up to standard.
After a good night's sleep we ventured downstairs to breakfast. Our previous experiences of breakfast at The Mug House have been excellent. Something went wrong on this occasion. Two of us took only a light breakfast, fruit, cold meats, croissants etc and had no complaints at all but the other two went for the cooked option which was a bit of a disaster. My wife proclaimed the scrambled egg inedible and although our friend ploughed manfully through his being a man who hates to be beaten, it was clear that his was not up to scratch either. I discussed this with the owner at check out who was aware he had a problem and apologised profusely, assuring me he was in the process of resolving it. I am prepared to take this at face value and will certainly stay again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: The Rose Room is our favourite.

Position of the Mug House Inn lovely. Made very welcome and and nice clean rooms. Great restaurant and good breakfast. Good value for money. If we visit this area again we would definitely stay there again. The steam train stopping here was an added bonus and we thoroughly enjoyed it
