Owner description: The Severn Valley Railway offers a fantastic heritage steam and diesel service between Kidderminster, Worcestershire and Bridgnorth Shropshire. We operate over 200 days a year and offer a perfect day out that includes a superb visitor centre at Highley Station called The Engine House.

I visited several times in June 2018, with there being a mixture of steam and diesel traction on offer, with the anticipated traction clearly stated in the timetable. The line is well run, well equipped, and wants for almost nothing, except on the dates in question, a few more passengers travelling. The locos are beautifully turned out, as are the coaches, the stations, staff wear immaculate uniforms, and there is a good range of food and drink available from the buffet, and served at your seat. The only negative is that having limited mobility at present, car park to station platform at Kidderminster is a good quarter mile, much of it along a narrow path with fences either side. Having negotiated this, and some challenging sloped ridged tiles, I was then able to reach the booking office, and then walk back along the platform to the train! On crutches, I felt this, and considerably! Wheelchair ramps are available for those less mobile than myself, and staff were willing to help, although in my case, I was able to join the train without assistance! Rest assured I'll be back, but its interesting making visits whilst my mobility is poor to see how they measure up for those less able!

First visit this year to this extremely well run Heritage Railway and wasn’t disappointed it was an extremely god day out. Was only a few days away from their 1940’s Gala weekend, so all the stations were decked in war-time memorabilia with air-raid shelters, cryptic signs and even a washing line which included a pair of corsets! Very well done, but couldn’t visit that weekend but all the best carriages were out as were the locos including a well presented GWR Manor Class Loco in brass and green. Everything ran like clockwork and visited the museum at Highley with static displays including the Royal Carraige from George 6th time. They have included better access to the Ship Inn on the banks of the R. Severn well signposted from Highley Station. Overall five stars to everyone concerned in the running of this attraction.

Cant recommend this highly enough even if you are not particularly into trains. The railway has been restored to the highest level with fabulous trains and rolling stock but the stations are just magnificent. £21 for an adult day rover, which gives access to the Engine museum at Highley an absolute must visit with a great viewing area of the actual line and some lovely engines on display, a very reasonable amount to pay imho.
The journey passes through some lovely countryside. If you are thinking of visiting make sure you do, you will not be disappointed.

A great train ride on vintage trains pulled by Steam and Diesel engines. Interesting things to do at stations on route to Bridgnorth.
Highly has The Engine House free entry with your train ticket. Go down to the river and relax a while at the riverside pub. The journey starts at Kidderminster, there is a museum, tea rooms, gift shop, second hand books etc at silly prices and an old fashioned sweet stall. Give Captain Cod chip shop a visit just over the road from the station. Enjoy!

At The Severn Valley Railway, visitors and passengers travel through time to experience the history of Britain's railway transportation that informs the present and inspires the ongoing future development of this established sector.

The journey is complemented with a visit to the Severn Valley Railway Museum, The Engine House Centre that well-maintains the history and reminds the visitors that good transportation is also a sign of culture and heritage!

Hello from Birmingham to Mr David and all his friends and colleagues at The Severn Valley Railway Station. Thank you for all your help!
