Came here with a Groupon voucher booking couldn't be found but not a problem the manager made us very welcome. Did wait for food but arrived cooked and presentable beef melted in your mouth no chewing as was the roast pork.Gravy was served in a separate gravy boat which tasted lovely and was very home made. All in all a traditional no frills pub with a warm welcome.

We had a groupon voucher which should affect the way you're treated. We often dine out with via groupon and by additional courses, drinks etc and we'll go back if we enjoy the food. Landlord moaned about groupon when we arrived, the roast beef could only be described as similar to tinned stewing steak. Strips of meat in masses of gravy. Waitress came to take our order for pudding got to table and couldn't remember the three things on offer, got around the corner forgot my husbands and then had to come back to ask what he wanted.

So glad we only paid £15 for the two of us. I would have been very upset if we'd paid more.

Once again we were using a Groupon Voucher and I am glad that we did because we will now visit again. I have read previous reviews and would generally agree with the favourable ones. The hosts were very welcoming, even on the telephone when booking. The food was very enjoyable, with real home made chips and loads of them! The menu is not extensive but there should be something there which you will like and meals being served to other tables also looked generous and appetising. Our steak came with mushrooms, onion rings, a fried egg and chips. My only reservation would be that there was no alternative to chips; no baked or new potatoes but that is a personal choice. We paid £15 for two people and a dessert was included. That's very good value and the drinks were very reasonably priced. This is not boutique but it is bijou - still a basic
traditional pub with no frills but very friendly and welcoming and very extensive outside eating areas which will be great come the sunshine. Finally, the ladies and gents were spotlessly clean.

Fantastic and friendly service from the moment we arrived. We were welcomed into the pub and shown into the "Snug" dining area which was very cosy and exceptionally clean. The only point I would make is that you do have to wait for the food. This is because it is made fresh when you order it. After having a conversation with the very friendly owners and receiving our food I have to say it was worth the wait! Everything was cooked to perfection! I would highly recommend that you visit this place!

The Hare and Hounds is a bit off the beaten track. We had eaten a couple of times in the "snug" their little dining room but on this visit it was a cold, grey blustery day and we were delighted to eat in the bar when their was a roaring fire. The landlord apoliogised for only having a restricted menu on but it contained everything we wanted. We were a party of 5 adults and a 2 year old." of us had plaice and chips, one gammon, one lasagne and one chicken with bacon and cheese. They even provided a small fish with a few chips for the 2yr old. The food was excellent, freshly cooked, hot and plentiful. I can highly recommend the Hare and Hounds. It's not fine dining but really good pub grub.
