“Good value in family run place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2013

This is my chosen place to stay when in Redditch.

First impressions are bad as you enter the premises through a typical "town" bar. But there's always a warm welcome and once you are upstairs in the hotel part you forget about the drinkers downstairs.

The rooms are all modern and clean, with free Wifi. en-suite shower/wc, tv and tea making facilities

Breakfast is good (bacon & eggs, orange juice, cereals etc) and there is a good selection of beers in the bar.

Friday & Saturday nights can be a bit noisy in the bar as there is usually a disco or a live band. The noise has never been so great as to keep me awake though, so no complaints, though some other people on here have not had such a good experience. When booking, ask for a room at the front!

I always read through the "Comments Book" at a hotel, if there is one, and the one at the White Hart Inn is full of pleasing comments from satisfied guests.

No restaurant but there are plenty of food outlets within walking distance and of course, some lovely food to be had at the many pubs out in the Worcestershire countryside

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front if you are staying Thurs, Fri or Sat nights

I booked a two night stay at The White Hart as we were attending a family funeral and this pub had hosted many a family party over the years and The Crown Green Suite was to host the wake, I had looked on the website and everything looked good with the basic facilities we needed.
Overall our room was ok, it was not one of the light, bright modern rooms shown. The decor was plain and in need of a coat of paint and in places in need of a bit of TLC- however on the plus side the bed was very comfy, the shower and bath very clean with good pressure and plenty of hot water.
Breakfast on both mornings was basic but ok, and the lady who cooked and served was more than happy to provide extra toast, tea etc.
My only complaint is that the room we had (1) overlooks the pub smoking and patio area and is very noisy at night, and that on the Friday there was a band on who were loud, had I have been told this when booking I wouldn't have stayed as after the funeral we just wanted a good nights sleep and we didn't get any peace until gone 1am.
Good overall basic stay, which was value for money and would stay again - but ask for a room at the front!

Room Tip: Pick a room at the front away from the smokers patio and beer delivery

We booked The White Hart because of attending a wedding party in the 'Crown Green suite' there. I felt a little worried when we went into the bar of the pub to get the key to our room.....three tv's on with just men in and sport on!! The staff member was very heplful and we were only charged £45.00 for the two of us for the night (£5.00 reduction) because of attending the party there. The room was nice and clean, bed comfortable, bath good (didn't use shower) Free WiFi - which we didn't have time to use in the end. With a bit of effort and not much expenditure, the rooms could be made more up to date. e.g we had only one bedside lamp in our room and that was very small with the light bulb sticking out a good 2" above the shade... paint flaking off the window sill in the bathroom. Went to bed late and our room was above the courtyard where people were still sat out - so the noise carried. (Never go to B&B without ear plugs!) Slept reasonably well but we were woken up early Sunday morning by someone sweeping the courtyard beneath us and chatting to someone else. Breakfast huge and very good.
Good value for money for one night. If we were to go again I would request a room as far away as possible from the courtyard. No food at the pub, so we went a couple of miles to the 'Bramley Cottage' - easy to get to. Great party in the 'Crown Green Suite'!

Room Tip: Request a room away from the courtyard.

As a single woman my heart sank when I walked in the bar. It felt like a blokes pub, the sort of place I wouldn't usually drink. But first impressions aren't always right. Everyone was really nice and friendly and the staff went above and beyond in being polite and helpful.

Upstairs the room was beautiful. Clean to the point of being spotless, freshly decorated in a modern style. Lovely white towels, lots of hot water, comfortable bed. Peeking next door, I could see at least two other rooms were as nicely done, so I didn't just get lucky. All the accomodation areas are lovely. Breakfast was standard full english, toast and cereal, plentiful as you'd expect in the Midlands, and average to good quality.

Noise can be a problem in pubs, and on the Friday night I could hear the band playing downstairs. However, it wasn't at a disturbing volume, they didn't play late, and they were actually a very good band! I had no problem hearing the television, or getting to sleep.

Headless Cross is about 15 minutes walk from the station, and has a pharmacy, a Co-op and two good curry houses, so I could get everything I wanted right on the doorstep. Something that can't be said for the big out-of-town chain hotels, or the farmhouse B&Bs. I'd thoroughly recommend this place, and if I come back to Redditch, I'll stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask Alex for his nicest room.

Rooms were nice looked like recently decorated, but we had no hot water or heating the entire stayl! We did complain but were told there was a loss of pressure? We have three young children one being only 8 months old & the outside temp was below freezing so not happy at all, had to get up in the morning & wrap our towels round us to stay warm. Also the music from the bar was blaring till 12am, we could even hear what the dj was saying word for word & we were in the top family room! There were no remote controls for the tv either over all a very disappointing stay ;-(

Kerry & Nigel and their family, friends and staff made us, and their other guests, very welcome this New Years Eve and through into the New Year. Rooms were very modern and maintained to a very high standard as were the rest of the pub facilities, the food and the entertainment throughout our stay.

It was great to be able to attend the (very elegant) White Tie & Diamonds evening in the function suite and be able to just walk across the car park and up the stairs to a comfortable bed.

Wouldn't hesitate stay again or to recommend to any other visitors to the area.

Best wishes to everyone we met in Redditch for 2010!
