Attraction details
Owner description: Built in the late 1970's the Abbey golf course has now matured into a fine, championship standard parkland course measuring over 6,500 yards. Designed by Donald Steel, one of Britain's leading course architects the course has been extensively upgraded and lengthened in recent years. Home to the Best Western Senior Masters final in 2006 the course now regularly hosts county matches and high profile corporate days. The layout includes matured trees, lakes and on the whole the fairways are wide with the rough not too punishing, the picturesque 7th is a 192 yard drive from the medal tee with the green surrounded on three sides by the river arrow. The 13th is a challenging uphill par 4 drive between two mature oak trees at 250 yards with the green concealed out of sight at the top of the hill.We offer Par 72 18 hole course, driving range, putting green, buggy hire, teaching and coaching support.

“Ok golf course but wait for food in club house was almost as long as wait in the tee”
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

Played here last week and went in to the bar for food in the clubhouse / bar over an hour before out tee time. The food whilst ok took so long we had to rush it to get out on time.
Then we went onto the course. Obviously the course has been moved around as none of the Garmin or other gps systems worked. Please sort this out. After about 4 holes we caught up with the group in front of us and then it was a wait at the tee at every hole thereafter. No Marshall's no nothing.
Course was ok but not spectacular

“Poor golf course but excellent hotel.”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

Golf course is maintained poorly couldn't tell the difference between fairway and rough. Greens are over used. Hotel is clean, food was excellent and spa is what you would expect.

“challenging course”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

Very flat and easy walkable course which offers a variety of challenges from high to low handicappers - well maintained even with all the wet weather in December

Reviewed 2 February 2014

I would like to say the green in fantastic and the food served at the restaurant was fresh and very well presented and cooked. I'm totally in love with this place for now! Need to brush up on my golf in the next coming months.
