Stayed on the Travelzoo offer. Check in was fine, the guy on reception was efficient and professional. Had room in purpose built extension to the manor which was good- clean, good condition and plenty of room.
Used the pool, spa and sauna in afternoon all very good and relaxing.
Pre dinner drinks at the bar were fine with prices as you would expect in a four star hotel.
We were booked in the restaurant at 8pm, and after being given our menus, the service went downhill. We opted for the sparkling wine as opposed to the cream tea included in the offer- DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! It took three requests to the waitress before it was bought to the table already in wine glasses, and it was dreadful! We asked the waitress to see the bottle, as we did not believe it was even alcoholic- after disappearing for a while she came back to tell us we could not see the bottle but assured us it was 'Asti' and 7% proof! I have never been to a 4star hotel who have refused to show you the wine they served- proves a point I think.
The service was poor throughout the evening- having to ask for a soup spoon, ask to see the dessert menu, and very slow. We were served by three different waitresses, and the overall impression was very disorganised.
What made it worse was that a party of about 10 people which appeared to include 'Liz Macdonald from Corrie' was receiving personal service from someone who appeared to be the Restaurant
Manager. I bet she wasn't on a Travelzoo voucher!
Despite the service, the food was good quality and very enjoyable.
Breakfast next morning was very good with an excellent choice of continental, fruits etc and a hot buffet.
We would definitely stay here again on condition the service improved dramatically.
I raised the points with the guy on reception at check out, and he acknowledged that a busy restaurant did not excuse poor service, so I hope this has been taken on board.

Not a bad hotel , on the whole very average , not 4 star for me I would say 3 star at best , They over charge big time on the Bar and for meals so take a tip exit the hotel turn right and 100 yards down the road is a pub where you can eat a great meal for under £10 and drink at good prices

Thank you for your feedback, we are 4* accredited by the AA. Our bar pricing is comparable with local hotels and having visited the local pub I can assure you that the surroundings are slightly different as is the food offering, I think it's safe to say that one expects different pricing in a pub to a 4* hotel.

We attended this hotel as a Travelzoo offer. Check in was a smooth process and we had the opportunity to change from a double to a twin room which we were very grateful for (thank you Teri). Our room was well presented, clean and spacious. We had a cream tea with a scrumptious home-made scone which we had in the relaxed lounge area. Although we booked our evening meal for 8pm there was no record of this on the restaurant documentation - this was the start of a series of unfortunate events!!! We were given the wrong menu which was changed after we had made our selection. Whilst I appreciate we were at the hotel via a deal, the replacement menu was very limited and even more so for vegetarians. After waiting 30 mins we discovered our meals were given to other guests, they were re-ordered but the wrong meals were offered to us. It was like a comedy sketch but not very funny when you are ravenous and waited in excess of 45 minutes. This was very disappointing. The staff were apologetic and rectified the situation to our satisfaction. The meals were well presented and tasty. The duty manager (Mark) was very approachable and welcomed our feedback. Due to his approachability and re-assurance we will give this hotel a second chance in the future. The breakfast had a very good selection including continental and full English options. The leisure facilities are excellent. The gym is very well equipped, the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were amazing and the pool a very good size for a hotel. We really appreciated the late check out which enabled us to enjoy the leisure facilities and the beautiful grounds on both days. If there was a three and a half score, that is what I would award and a 5 if the restaurant issues did not occur.

Thank you for your comments, apologies for the errors made in relation to your dining experience, however I'm pleased to know that we redeemed ourselves and that Mark played a big part in this. I'm glad that you will give us a second chance.

Did a short break with friends and thought this deal was a good one. We had bed, breakfast and dinner. We had been visiting local attractions and checked in hoping for a relaxing swim as we had specifically chosen the hotel because it said it had a spa. When we arrived notice on reception saying pools out of order so we were rather disappointed. Our rooms were big and clean.Food was nice both dinner and breakfast but at dinner we were made to feel a little like a 'cheapskate' as we asked for coffee and were told 'its not included in your deal' even though the menu had it marked in red as being an included choice. Service was slow as there was a large party in.The public areas ( bar, restaurant etc.) were uncomfortably hot. All in all was good value for money.

Thank you for placing your feedback further to your stay, our leisure club and it's facilities are generally very reliable, however we had an unfortunate situation when you stayed that required us to take the pool out of order as a health and safety precaution.
With regard to tea and coffee this is included in the menu and I apologise that you were misinformed.

Welcome was polite and very chirpy, rooms are adequate. Some rooms have had a semi-refurb others are very dated. I was travelling with some colleagues and all our rooms seemed to be very different. Everyone complained about the pillows and how thin they were. The bar area is dull. No atmosphere, no background music, resembled a library rather than a bar. Colleagues ate in the restaurant on one evening and said that was the same, they were the only people eating in there. Bar ran out of wine (!).... Overall just quite a dull and drab place to stay.
We ate out locally at the White Heart in Hartlebury, a mile or so up the road, food was fab and noticed other hotel guests were eating there too!

Thank you for your review, I'm sorry that you found the hotel to be dull. As the hotel was origionally a private house and has since been extended some of the rooms vary in shape and size but are all decorated in a similar style.
We have music playing in all public areas but this plays into the meeting rooms so when we have conferences unfortunately we have to turn it off.
Whilst it is possible we had run out of a particular wine due to demand but not run out of wine in general just to keep things in perspective.
Thank you again for your comments
