OH MY GOD, the standards of this restaurant have dropped like a stone since we were last there. We actually saw a small rat (or a VERY large mouse) run right round the edge of the dining room. We had just ordered drinks but got up to leave in horror. The waiter tried to insist we pay for the drinks we had not yet consumed., Of course, we didn't and I'm afraid we will not be returning, ever.

Just been to the lovely restaurant. The setting is lovely, we sat outside because it was sun shinning. Service was good and food excellent. Would go again without hesitation.

We visited this bistro on Fathers Day. When booking (and paying our deposit which was compulsory beforehand) we were not told that there would only be a three course set menu available on the day. So we were disappointed to find a very limited menu which really did not suit our dad's, or indeed our tastes. It also took a forceful discussion from us to be allowed to opt out of the three courses and instead just have two. I think they have seen an opportunity to cash in and force a £24 menu on guests, instead of what they actually want. The food was OK but not amazing and the desserts menu bore no relation to what was actually presented to us. We won't rush back which is a shame because the setting is very nice.

The pavilion is a lovely building in a truly beautiful setting and that is what I have given 2 stars for.
I have visited twice once to eat and once just for drinks. The service on both occasions has been poor to say the least. We arrived early evening when the place was fairly quiet. Two bar tenders were serving other people but did acknowledge us and an older lady offered us menus. However upon saying that we just wanted drinks they changed and were completely dis interested in us. We chose seats outside overlooking the bowling green and we're told someone would come to take our order. New waited patiently for almost ten minutes until I went back inside and said we were still waiting. A further few minutes passed until the lady came to us, she offered no apology whatsoever and presented us with menus despite the fact that we had already said we didn't want food.
The drinks when they finally arrived were fine though very expensive and we left as soon as we had drunk them.
It's a real shame that such a beautiful place is offering such poor service. Having had poor experiences both of my visits I will definitely not be returning.

We went here last minute, we had great service, they have a good wine list and ate in the restaurant, we had problem with with one of the starters and the staff offered to replace it and knocked it off the bill. The food is to a high standard and the restaurant is set out in a lovely way and recommend going for a walk around the area.

We will go back, but always book a table.
