We visited this establishment for the first time today and were most impressed by the levels of hygiene ( the toilets and stairwell were immaculate) also the friendly and courteous staff made all the difference to our lunchtime experience. We noticed that the mother and daughter team clearly valued their established clientele and subsequently made the experience a cut above the average . We will definitely return to enjoy the scrumptious crumpet and red onion marmalade snack once more or possibly try something else from the good variety of meals on offer !

Very surprised to hear the owner/ manager screaming at customers. Rude, just rude. Whatever the cause it was very embarrassing for all concerned. The ladies were delightful and only asked if there long awaited snack was on its way after a long wait. Completely put me off ever going again

Dear Carol.
Thank you for your review. I was present at the time of this incident and would like to enlighten you as to what actually happened. The 'ladies' were informed that there was a delay on food when they ordered. We were incredibly busy at the time with people queuing out of the door. We were working on around 30 mins from ordering to food arriving. This is not a long time given our food is freshly made to order. The 'ladies' were complaining constantly and then we had, unfortunately, sold out of a soup they had ordered. Our new waitress went to explain this to the 'ladies' and one of them was extremely abrupt with her, without allowing our waitress to speak. The waitress is a young girl doing an excellent job and didn't deserve to be spoken to in such a manner. The 'ladies' had had their drinks at this point and the majority of their food was ready to be served. At this point, they all got up from their table and went to the till to the owner. They promptly informed the owner that it was 'disgusting' to have to wait so long and that we had run out of soup. They said that they were leaving and were not paying for the drinks they had consumed. At which point, the owner stated that they had to pay for their drinks as they had consumed them and that their food was all now wasted due to it being ready. One of the 'ladies' was extremely abusive to the owner and decided to continue making personal abusive comments to the owner.
I have two questions Carol. 1} Do you think it is ok to order food and drinks, consume the drinks, waste the food, then walk out without paying, due to us not serving fast food, akin to Macdonalds? 2) Do you think that someone should stand there and accept a barrage of personal abuse, whilst accepting our staff being spoken to in a demeaning manner?
I urge you to perhaps consider, if it was your business and your staff, would you accept this?
We go to great lengths to provide excellent food and service, as all our reviews reflect and this never falters.
If you wish to discuss your disappointment further, please do not hesitate to call us.

The last time my wife and I had breakfast in Bury we were disappointed by the quality, so we decided to try another cafe, namely Leckenby's.

We were not disappointed. A full breakfast was a little dearer than the unsatisfactory one, but it was still only £7-95 and the quality meant that this amounted to a bargain. Every element included was first-class.

Service was also quick, efficient and friendly. My wife asked for several little extras, for example, marmalade and hot water. All was supplied with fuss.

Well worth a visit.
