Arrived at The Clarence a bit close to 'kitchen closing' on Thursday evening, but the waitress said 'all will be ok if we ordered soon' That wasn't difficult, as I know my favourites off the menu ! We had the black pudding croquettes for starters, and 2 of us had fish and chips, while the other had the hot dog as mains. All was fantastic as usual ! and the waitress was brilliant. We were so pleased to see that the deconstructed cheesecake was still on the dessert menu also ! Thanks again all.......

The Clarence has been beautifully refurbished and there are some great mid-week food deals to take advantage of. Food is freshly prepared and tasty.

A disappointing and over priced Fathers day Sunday luncheon £13.75. Had the seven of us gone to a carvery we would have paid half the price and would have eaten a far more imaginative plate of food with a good choice of vegetables. The Clarence luncheon consisted of roast meat ( the beef was chewy ), two roast potatoes, cabbage, beans, one very over cooked Yorkshire pudding and not enough gravy. When we asked for more we were charged £1 and the meal was luke warm. The staff when we were paying the bill were eager to point out that the 10% service charge was optional !! We will not be going there again for a Sunday roast.

Came here for Fathers Day Sunday lunch with family,I have never been before and was amazed by the place. We were seated upstairs and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu.we all chose the lamb with roasts and veg delicious 3 of us had dessert and 1 had the cheese board.Really enjoyed the meal and the staff were friendly and attentive will definitely come again .The best part was they had a gin menu and the cost was 2 gins fit £10.

Second time I have been here . Great food , well presented , charming staff and a really nice environment. If I’m honest it’s a nicer crowd here just being maybe 100 yards from some of the more central pubs
