Looks a mess from the outside. Check in ok, corridors to rooms look like crap, room very basic...the whole thing has seen better days...but for £29 per night you get what you pay for....good nights sleep, free wifi.....would use again for that rate..prefer premier inns for the same money if booked in advance.

The 247 was once a prestigious hotel called the Avant Hotel holding weddings and large functions in their large annex.
It then became a Travelodge and not so long back was taken over as a 247.

If you work on the basis that the Avant was a 4 star, that the Travelodge was a 3 star and that the 247 is a 2 star, then you'll be pleasantly surprised.

With each change of ownership the hotel has been downgraded in grade but the hotel hasn't changed in its offerings from a functional point of view.

The hotel is located in the middle of Werneth, Coppice and Chadderton, not affulent or particularly pleasing parts of Oldham. The immediate area around the hotel is run down and it doesn't help that the annex which once housed the events is now a disused building in a state of disrepair and is in the grounds of the hotel.

Despite being on the main road there isn't a lot of road noise, though sound insulation in the rooms isn't great and we were woke repeatedly by those returning from their nights out.

The rooms are laege enough to be comfortable, the bathroom is functional albeit very white and quite small.

Beds are 'bouncy' (well used and with a bit of a roll towards the middle). The carpets are clean, in fact the room was really clean.
Bedding is basic, white and starched which suited me.
Furtniture is basic but matches though the addition of a third bed in our room meant the wardrobe doors had been taken off so it could be used.

Tea, coffee and the usual condiments are provided and on arrival we were given a pack of biscuits each.

Large, free parking area surrounds the building and there is good public transport to Oldham and Manchester.

Overall the hotel offers very good value (£36 pn) for functional, clean bedroom.
I can't comment on breakfast or other facilities.

Personally I thought this hotel was better in comfort than the local Travelodge but it's equally as bland in decor.

Would return.

All we wanted was a room for the night before flying out of Manchester. Couldn't be better, nice sized room, clean , comfortable. Food and drink available on site, monitored car parking, will definitely use this hotel again

It was great to stay somewhere with a large car park with spare spaces at 10.45pm. I only paid £27 for one night’s stay so value for money was superb. I had a large spacious double room with a big bathroom again with plenty of space. Room included TV, heater, tea/coffee making and a couple of electricity sockets plus desk and wardrobe. It’s worth taking an extension lead if you want to charge your phone next to the bed and if you’re a light sleeper then ear plugs may be useful as there’s a lot of road noise although I wonder if this is throughout the whole hotel as my room was right at the end of the corridor. WiFi is free and encrypted as well as being a decent speed, unlike most hotels which crawl along. Receptionist was very polite and very helpful. Not a firm mattress but it’s OK for one night. I’d definitely stay here again for the price, especially when I’ve paid more than twice as much in not so nice areas of London and had tiny rooms. OK, it's not a pretty looking hotel, but for a business one night stay when a bed is needed it's perfect - just get a room away from the road.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road and probably not on the top floor as those are loft rooms

Hotel was clean, but that was its only good point. Awful looking from the outside and not much better in the rooms. The wardrobe had no doors on it, the hot tap worked if you waited five minutes, the kettle was also on a delay. Single zed bed sagged in the middle and the duvet was really thin and only one pillow each.

Staff were not very helpful when asked about local info, for example time of buses to Manchester only told to get them at the bottom of the road.

The hotel was full of youngster, banging doors at all hours and kept knocking on each others door constantly.

would not stay again, it was cheap but have stayed in hotels for the same price and they have been a lot lot better quality.

Room Tip: Best tip: Stay elsewhere if you want a good nights sleep

We arrived an hour early. Check in took a few minutes the lady couldnt find our booking for 2 rooms? The hotel looks run down from outside and in parts inside but our room was ok. It was a fair size. Room 102 which has a window which over looks the service area. The bed was clean and comfortable. Plenty of pillows and spare duvets. Kettle tea coffee sugar and biscults. Hairdryer, Ironing Board although I didnt see the Iron Im guessing you have to ask reception for it? TV desk and chair. Dirty sofa bed. Carpet could do with a good clean to get the wine and other stains out. There is a wall heater which took a while to heat the room. The was noise internal and external which sounded like a generator? The were noisy inconsiderate people but you can get that anywhere. 20 minute car drive to the Apollo in Manchester. Plenty of free car parking. Cafe area with TV which we didnt have time to use.

Overall ok for an overnight the place good do with a clean and lick of paint in parts but for price it was ok.
