We came across the Kingfisher quite by accident. Had we read the reviews first we might not have gone in. To be fair it was late afternoon/early evening and there wasn't many people in. We were met by a very hospitable chap who was possibly the manager, who soon had us seated and drinks ordered. The menu was huge, not only was there the standard, on the table menu, but the specials board had a great range of meals, perhaps too many. At first it seemed expensive, but we quickly noticed the two for one offer, which to be fair covered most, if not all the meals. My wife opted for the chicken in cider sauce, while I went for the standard chicken/bacon/cheese combination served with a POUND of chips! I am getting older and my appetite is not what it was, but some things have to be done. My wife's meal was excellent while mine was a little overcooked. There were some very good beers on offer, which is much as an attraction to me as the food. The bill, for two meals and three drinks came to about twenty pounds. As we were leaving the pub was starting to get busy and you could feel the stress levels in the staff starting to rise. Would we go again? Yes, but we would go early if we could.
