We had our annual Christmas party at this venue this week and it was fantastic. Based on Narnia the witch and wardrobe it was a very enjoyable evening. The D.J was first class. The venue was full yet everyone still had a good Christmas dinner that was piping hot and good value for money. Several of us stayed and the rooms were very comfortable. You can have a late breakfast (which most of us had) and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff work incredibily hard. Apart from the DJ they had two girl dancers on stilts and a fire eater. They also had a cocktail bar and casino and bacon butties at midnight!

We intend booking again for next year

Attended a lunch time Christmas Party with four friends. Lovely setting. Seated at large round table for 10 There was a party if five on the table also. Wonderful service, we had a set menu for £15, starter of fabulous soup, piping hot!,followed by traditional Christmas fare. Turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, cranberry, pigs in blankets, sprouts and carrots. The on,y draw back was that the turkey was 'turkey roll' and dry, and the gravy came when most people had finished. The Christmas pudding and sauce was delicious, and was followed by coffee, and mints. After the party poppers were popped and crackers pulled we had a wonderful singer going through 40s 50s 60s and 70s and dancing for 2 hours. Al Lorenzo has a fabulous voice, dressed in white suit and red necktie, added glamour to the afternoon. All in all a wonderful afternoon, Peppi the waiter and barman, could not do enough for you. Brilliant, just wish it had been a little longer, finishing at 3.30
Starting at 12.30 felt a little rushed. But definitely do it again next year!

Dear Earley2

Thank you so much for your review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your Christmas party with us. I just wanted to assure you that the Turkey is not Turkey roll and is cooked and sliced in house. I am sorry if your tables gravy was late. I shall pass on your kind comments to the team, especially Peppe.

I do hope we see you again

We have just had our Xmas function at Smokies Hotel and it was brilliant. Organised the event over 6 months and always found the back room staff brilliant with regards communication etc.
The night was a themed night and it was brilliant from walking in to the venue till us leaving.
They had a cocktail bar , small casino and a photo booth that was absolutely brilliant. The DJ was very good as was the fire eating act and just the whole atmosphere was great The night was such good value for money and I can not wait for the next Christmas event there. Icing on the cake was bacon butties at midnight :))

Dear Cruisers244

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your Christmas party with us. We have had such fantastic feedback that I know we will have to make next year even better. I have managed to book the UK's number one duelling piano show "Piano Factor". The show consists of 2 baby grand pianos with a drummer who take requests and play the music you want to hear. They are high energy, funny and try and out do each other to win the audiences appreciation. We will also have the photo booth and props with free prints, DJ, cocktail bar and hot dogs at Midnight as this years theme is "Fairy tale of New York ".

For anyone wishing for a more intimate party we are also hosting "New York City Swing" with a fantastic menu, arrival cocktail and swing singer.

Hope we see you again soon

Kind Regards

Spent one night at the hotel. 15th to 16th December 2013. It was enjoyable. I had read some reviews on here saying about its poor decor and such but the room I had was in great condition and clean and tidy. The shower especially was great. The breakfast, we went in at 8am, there was hot food as well as cold and juices and hot drinks too. I thought the food was nice and the service was good. The only negative was the dishwasher hadn't done a great job of cleaning some of the cups. The downsides i experienced were parking was limited but we managed to take the last two spaces, and wifi was not at all adequate. Cost for drinks was £4 for a pint of Kroenenburg. It was noisy with drunken guests moving from the bar area to their rooms around midnight. We stayed here while we went to an event at Manchester central. It was a little out of the way, but it was value for money. Would I visit here again? Yes of course if the price remained the same.

Dear Lorrenna

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I was pleased that you liked our hotel and found it good value for money. I am so sorry about the noise due to other drunk guests. We did have a big Christmas party on that night and my night team do their best to control noise but it is very difficult at this time of year without spoiling peoples fun. When you next stay, please ask to be allocated in a quiet area of the hotel and we will always try our best.

Hope you enjoyed the event you were attending in Manchester and hope to see you again soon.

Kind Regards

As a regular traveller, I have stayed at the Best Western Smokies Hotel several times. The hotel is competitively priced and clean if somewhat a little dated. The staff are all courteous, friendly and obviously take pride in their work. The rooms are well kittted with multi-channel flat screen TV and free wifi so ideal for business travellers. In addition to drinks, the bar also serves good food too and is welcoming even if staying alone. Diane deserves special mention as she is really superb and personifies what good and genuine service looks like! When I stay over in Oldham, Smokies is the hotel of choice.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are remodelled, huge, well kitted and superb value.

Dear David W

Thank you for your review of our hotel. It is great to hear from a regular guest who repeatedly enjoys his stay. We all do take a great deal of pride in looking after our guests and we are always improving the hotels decoration, fixtures and fittings. I will pass on your kind words to Diane, who I would agree, is a very warm and welcoming person and really looks after all the guests in her bar.

Thank you for staying with us
