“Less than charming”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Ignored at check in for 5 minutes by staff member who was struggling with the computer system. Arrival of another staff member gave us an acknowledgement of our being there but after an apology we still had to wait for a further 5 to 10 minutes before we were checked in. This entailed looking on a preprinted list which was on the check in desk all the time and taking payment in full for our 3 night stay. Given a room key and sent to our room.
This was clean and quite well appointed but the shower was at most a dribble and the mattress was in need of retirement.
Breakfast was included in the room rate but was "continental" and no cooked option was mentioned by any of the staff. Coffee was excellent!!
Stairwell to rooms was badly lit and smelled a lot!!

Room Tip: No lift and rooms on first and second floor only.

We have stayed here on many occasions and have never been disappointed the rooms are lovely and clean tea tray restocked everyday and if you run out just ask at the bar and they will give you more the staff are very friendly and helpful nice carvery food always fresh it does get busy but they will always find you a table the lady at breakfast I think her name is Penny is so helpful and nothing is to much bother for her the breakfast is very good plenty of choice from toast to cereal plus fruit, muffins, cheese, yogurts etc the only downfall is if your room is on the second floor the stairs are very steep and narrow but all in all a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: go for first floor

We stayed in a twin room on a Saturday night - didn't want to drive back to Liverpool after a party in Stockport, and it was close to the venue. Not a lot to say really, except 'fine'. The staff were very nice and helpful, the room was ok - perfectly clean and good value for the price we paid. We'd booked very late, so were given the last room, on the 2nd floor. There are 45 steps, the last ones are quite steep, with several holes in the carpeting, so it's not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. There's no lift. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were like bricks! Lots of choice for breakfast. All in all, if you're looking for somewhere to stay the night, rather than base a holiday around, it's absolutely fine. Cheap, clean, and in a good area!

Room Tip: Try to get a ground floor room.

I stayed here on 10/9/11. Room was a nice size, airy and clean. Bed was very comfortable with crisp white bedding. En suite bathroom was very clean. Fluffy bath sheets were provided. Staff are very friendly and helpful. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone, enjoyable short stay and will be staying again next time I am in the area, thanks.

We have been to innkeepers for several years and we knew what to expect. Parking here is free but make be aware you might be waiting for parking on Sunday lunchtime as it's busy then.

Check in took sometime as noone was there at the check in desk for around 5-10 mins.

The room was on the second floor with no elevator. Difficult to lug suitcases upstairs. Our room unfortuantely was next to the door to the stairs which I will touch on later.

The room:
Standard innkeeper lodge, double bed, desk with HD tv and table with ketle and tea. Sofa chair also present and a wardrobe.

Sleeping:
Diffuclt to sleep here as walls thin and when people came up or down the the stairs the door was audible. Peopls also slammed the doors as they entered or left.

Bathroom:
Clean bathroom nothing wrong here

Continental breakfast:
What you expect from inkeepers, orange and apple juice with a choice of breaded products, yoghurt and fruit bowl. Tea coffee also available.

I didn't try the carvery menu due to bad experiance at another lodge.

In Summary, wall were thin and doors to the staircase was too noisy. Breakfast was good though.

Room Tip: get a room away from staircase

Obviously you do not come here for a romantic mini break, but it does the job for a business trip. I had to stay forsix nights and the only problem was checking in, I felt the gentleman probably had not done it in a while. Breakfast is continental and good, room always tidied and missing shower gel was filled up quickly. When the chef walks into the breakfast room to grab a bun, it would be nice of him to say good morning, but again: It's not as if you come here to befriend the locals.
Toby Carvery downstairs really great for good, decent English grub.
