Owner description: Looking for somewhere to play golf in Stockport, there is only one choice....With 2013 Centenary planning well on its way, the beautiful and well-appointed Alister MacKenzie parkland course at Hazel Grove Golf Club in Cheshire, is characterised by several natural water hazards. Add to these the planting of a further 6,500 trees to supplement the existing ones and you can understand why thoughtful course management is required by golfers of all levels. The course has a number of feature holes each presenting its own individual MacKenzie challenge. The par 5 third is as testing as any and ranks amongst the best in Cheshire, while the best of the par 3's is arguably the eleventh, both for its degree of difficulty and picturesque layout.Equally, the eighteenth finishing hole with its MacKenzie tiered green and backdrop of the chalet-style clubhouse ranks with the best on the course. With so many outstanding holes, it's hard to highlight any one as a 'signature' hole. However, the fifteenth, dominated by a large sweeping lake, which runs along the left hand edge of the fairway, and across the front and down the left of the green, must take the honour. At 285 yards, this par 4 represents the ultimate risk or reward hole. From the elevated tee the green always seems within reach with a well struck drive, but your mind is then further concentrated by the out of bounds which runs along the right edge of the fairway. The decision is yours - lay up, or take on the green? Golfers who enjoy and appreciate the challenge of MacKenzie Courses will love the welcome they get at Hazel Grove and I believe you will leave saying "Golf in Cheshire just doesn't get any better than this!"

Just there for a party. The location is lovely, the staff were pleasant, the drinks very good value and the food was simple, fresh and tasty.

Warm welcome from the pro. Testing Parkland McKenzie course with USGA greens. They play on them all year long even when very frosty. Nice clubhouse with good food. Loved the McKenzie Oak Statue.

Hazel Grove Golf Club is truely the "Hidden Gem" of Cheshire. The Club is always pleased to welcome visitors and host society days.
The challenge of the course, superb facilities and excellent cuisine, leave players of all levels with a golfing experience to remember.
Societies return time after time, knowing that their day will be a complete success. The only thing that cannot guarantee is the weather, but HGGC never have temporary greens even in the worst weather in winter.
The large clubhouse can cater for up to 120 people quite comfortably, so events of any size are easily handled.
You will be made most welcome at HGGC.

This is a very challenging parkland golf course, a true test of the game. Every hole is different and requires thinking about where to place your shot. The greens are amongst the best I have played; USGA specification that have settled to leave some testing breaks. Whilst the course would test a skilled golfer it is also suitable for those learning the game with bale out and lay up areas. I believe they use the greens and fairways all year, making it very good value for a winter visit.
