Owner description: Looking for somewhere to play golf in Stockport, there is only one choice....With 2013 Centenary planning well on its way, the beautiful and well-appointed Alister MacKenzie parkland course at Hazel Grove Golf Club in Cheshire, is characterised by several natural water hazards. Add to these the planting of a further 6,500 trees to supplement the existing ones and you can understand why thoughtful course management is required by golfers of all levels. The course has a number of feature holes each presenting its own individual MacKenzie challenge. The par 5 third is as testing as any and ranks amongst the best in Cheshire, while the best of the par 3's is arguably the eleventh, both for its degree of difficulty and picturesque layout.Equally, the eighteenth finishing hole with its MacKenzie tiered green and backdrop of the chalet-style clubhouse ranks with the best on the course. With so many outstanding holes, it's hard to highlight any one as a 'signature' hole. However, the fifteenth, dominated by a large sweeping lake, which runs along the left hand edge of the fairway, and across the front and down the left of the green, must take the honour. At 285 yards, this par 4 represents the ultimate risk or reward hole. From the elevated tee the green always seems within reach with a well struck drive, but your mind is then further concentrated by the out of bounds which runs along the right edge of the fairway. The decision is yours - lay up, or take on the green? Golfers who enjoy and appreciate the challenge of MacKenzie Courses will love the welcome they get at Hazel Grove and I believe you will leave saying "Golf in Cheshire just doesn't get any better than this!"

“Wedding Breakfast A Star”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

My wife and I had our wedding at Hazel Grove Golf Club on the 8th March 2014. We are so glad that we choose to have our reception here as it went above and beyond our expectations. We met with Martin about 9 months before the wedding to discuss our requirements and straight from the start there was nothing that was too much hassle. We required a wedding breakfast for 160 people which didn’t concern Martin – we found other venues would only cater for 120. We met about 2 weeks before the wedding to finalise details – again any concerns we had were addressed. When we arrived on our wedding day the room looked amazing which is testament to Martin and his team’s dedication to detail. Everyone I spoke to on the day and since have all said how good the food was – this came from a number of my friends who are in the catering business! I would also consider the venue to be good value for money – we were offered a sensible drinks package which didn’t break the bank and the food was also good value especially as it tasted so good. The whole team were friendly, polite and helpful - anything we asked for was sorted promptly. In summary if you are considering using Hazel Grove Golf Club for a function do not hesitate – Martin & his team will deliver – I know my father is planning on having his 60th Birthday there.

“Nice course but wet and boring”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Played this course on 5/11/13 and found it for £15 on teetimes, why not?.. Played on summer greens and they were as expected having been core drilled, a bit bumpy, having said that they were incredibly flat. The bunkers were out of play, due to the flooding in them and the fairways were very wet, drainage on this course is a problem. My main criticism of this course was its layout, one hole seemed to be the same as the next, everything was straight, no hills, only 2 hazards, Par 3,4 or 5 it was all the same and i couldn't remember one outstanding hole, worth the £15, but wouldn't pay more. Nice pro shop, but top dollar and bar was closed !!????. Yes the bar was closed. A golf course with a bar overlooking the 18th green and it was closed, unbelievable!!

“A nice round of golf”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

A good course well kept and a decent welcome in the clubhouse. Good value for money. The food was well cooked generous in size and served piping hot to the table with a nice pot of tea. If you are in the area its well worth a visit.

“Interesting course”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

We played this course on the back of 8 days of red hot sunshine and it was in good condition. A couple of the greens were looking a little scorched but all in all a good track. Very friendly members and a super helpful pro.
