Great hotel and not over priced for the quality and service you receive. Staff are very polite and helpfull. Good location outside of Manchester but still within easy reach with good rail and transport links close by. I would recommend dining at the restaurant which is good value for money with good quality food and excellent table service.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear of the hotel are quieter

We had booked a party of nine for my mothers 89th birthday.

We, I must say from the outset, have eaten there many times over the last 20+ years for several family celebrations (Mum and Dads Ruby wedding, dads 70th birthday my 50th spring to mind and we have always received good , no brilliant service.

We were shown to the bar, ordered drinks, were given the menus- and the waiter came to us several minutes later I assumed to take our orders, but no to tell us they had no steak !

We could have veal, lamb or chicken but no steak. We had all decided on , you guessed it, steak.

We decided to leave and we all went to Bella Italia in Pars Wood Manchester and had a lovely meal.

Surely it would have been better to phone us and tell us they had no steaks, rather than the way this was handled?

I can only assume this was due to some one cost saving by not ordering enough provisions for the week end.

Dear Sir,

I would like to apologise for the restaurant being out of stock of steaks last Sunday evening. As a family business it does not save money to be out of stock as can be seen from your reaction on the night.

We are proud to only use the finest British beef which is not vacuum packed or frozen, this supports British farmers and farm jobs. Last weekend we hosted a sportsmans dinner in the company of Mr. Phil Taylor, the 15 time darts world champion. 70 guests enjoyed a choice menu which included fillet steak, we anticipated a large number choosing the steak option 65 chose steak which was more than anticipated, however we had the stock and all enjoyed their meal. Mr. Taylor spoke to me the next morning and commented positively on the quality of the food and service.

On Saturday night we had a large percentage choosing steak and on Sunday Lunch chef had to roast an extra piece of beef because of the demand for roast beef. We can never know when a single product is going to be so popular.

As a restaurant we order what we anticipate is the likely demand for a product, this enables us to serve only fresh quality products to our guests. If we order too much then the product will deteriorate in our fridges or in our store rooms.

The restaurant you frequented after leaving the Wycliffe will not operate in this manner, I suggest that every single item is pre portioned and pre prepared at central kitchens.Vacuum packed or frozen and their beef, if any, will be imported from the southern hemisphere vacuum packed and frozen during the long shipping process, this does not help the environment or this country.

As a small business we do try hard to satisfy our guests needs, we have an excellent reputation for food and service, as can be seen from previous reviews and your own opening paragraph. We are highly dependent on positive feed back on such sites as tripadvisor.

As the owner/ manager I am always always available to listen to and discuss our failings in an amicable way. Such an unsympathetic review is disheartening to us all here and is damaging to our reputation and the business. I feel it does not represent the restaurant and what we are trying to acheive in any way. As steak only represents 30% of our menu we had in addition to your list duck, pasta and fish available which is still a good selection from which to choose and a full market menu.

I've stayed at many hotels through my work, some i would visit again and some not. The wycliffe is a gem, so much so that i use it time and again, it seems to get better each time. the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful. T he main reason for my return, though, is the food, it is fantastic, gourmet food at premier inn prices, cant praise it enough. I was a bit loathe to post this , as i dont want it to get too full! Down side , under mcr airport flypath, doesnt bother me though.

We spent two nights at the Wycliff Hotel when visiting a young relative undergoing surgery at the nearby Alexandra Hospital (1.8 miles away). We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful at all times. They showed great flexibility over our arrival times. On the one evening when we dined in the hotel,we arrived late for dinner but this seemed to cause no problem.
Our room was large, immaculately clean and had a superb large en-suite shower room. The hotel is on the flight path for Manchester Airport but we were not disturbed too any extent by aircraft noise.
Breakfast was excellent and our dinner (from a special £16.95 residents menu) was excellent value and once more the service was superb.
We would definitely stay at the Wycliffe hotel again if in the area

We've stayed at the Wycliffe Hotel several times. On the last two occasions we were with our five-, then seven-, month-old son. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful, dealing professionally with all our needs. The fact that we brought our son to every meal (including dinner on Saturday night, when there was a large birthday party in the restaurant too) was no problem at all. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was fine, and the dinner particularly good. The car park is large. It's easy to get to from the motorway. It also has its own character, rather than being a cookie-cutter chain place which is usually the only option around this price in a non-tourist area. Staff and guests seemed generally in a good mood. The only thing I would change is the background music in the restaurant, which was an irritating mix of bland pop (Coldplay, Jack Johnson - it seems that it is compulsory for hotels and B&Bs to play Jack Johnson at breakfast - , etc), not particularly consistent with the more traditional/Italian theme of the place.

I stayed in this hotel while visiting elderly relatives in the area. It was comfortable and friendly with attentive staff. The service and quality of food in the dining room was very good as was breakfast the following morning. The only criticism I have was the price of drinks in the bar- £10.20 for two standard gins and tonic was rather expensive!

We stayed one Saturday night in September. Everything was perfect from the friendly welcome to the excellent breakfast and friendly checkout. I can't understand why 90% of hotels never ask about your stay! but they did.
Everything was spotlessly clean with everything you need in the room.
We will return.
