“Great Tour and Beers”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

I visited the brewery as part of a Stag Day and we all very much enjoyed it. Very interesting tour with lots to see and very friendly and informative staff. Good to know that there is a shop where you can purchase the beers on site.
One word of warning to others thinking of visiting - there are lots of steps!

Dear RR4321

I hope the stag and yourself had a great time here at Robinsons. We have 54 steps to the top of the brewery, quite a few but i'm sure you guys all coped with it.

Do come back again to enjoy the bar any time.

All the best,

The VC team

“Great way to learn about beer!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We visited the brewery yesterday, but I wasn't able to write a proper review last night courtesy of the effects of Trooper and Old Tom!
In the visitor centre is a wealth of information and artifacts about the history of this great Stockport institution.
The tour started in the visitor centre with Barry, who seemed very knowledgeable and interested in his subject. We then proceeded into the brewery itself passing through the bar/restaurant area (must go back for food next time...) before passing the laboratory where they test the ingredients used (primarily wheat, hops, yeast and malt) and the product at various times during its journey through the process. We then went into the brewery itself where Barry explained each stage of the process. It was very interesting to see both the old and new equipment and hear the ways in which they differ and yet produce the same result and modern equipment installed so that they can do seasonal ales and special orders.
Whether you purchase a standard or gold ticket (standard £8.95 or £18.95 for a golden ticket) you have the opportunity to have a beer tasting, in addition if you buy the gold ticket, a bottle of beer of your choice to take home, a glass, a t-shirt, and an additional pint in the bar area.

Dear 666mort,

Thank you for coming to our Visitor Centre, we hope you made good use of a golden ticket. Having the old and the new production methods side by side really does make it a unique experience here at Robinsons. Do come back again soon.

“Stockport's greatest treasure”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We visited the visitor centre yesterday, and were blown away by the company history that is on display as soon as you walk in the centre. The tour starts at the old copper which stands on display in the visitor centre, then you proceed into the brewery where they have old stood by new and it's explained how the equipment works and how the final product is produced, the tours guide 'Barry' was very friendly and tried to get you involved with the tour.
The tour shows how the ale's journey starts from the four main ingredients 'whym' right through to the final product, from 'old Tom' right through to the seasonals and the trooper.
The tour finishes in the bar where you have the chance to sample some of the fine ale's.
All in all an excellent tour that offers an insight to one of stockport's great treasures.

Dear Alan,

We hope you had a fantastic time and really got to enjoy your tour. All of our tour guides have their own little quirks. We hope you were able to try out our restaurant as well as the bar. If not then do come back for another drink and a bite to eat.

“Real Ale Brewery Tour That Even Non Beer Drinkers Will Enjoy”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

One of my wife's chums organised a girls Saturday lunchtime visit here,so I tagged along.
Went years ago when it was a bit more rustic and 'Rovers Return' like. Very Good then, and even better now.
Has a Visitor Centre now which is very well done and extremely well designed
Reception Staff excellent and very welcoming.
The ladies wanted to eat first. Restaurant / bar is excellent , with full meals ,sandwiches , toasties etc.Particularly recommended are the mini 'pub platters' at £3.75 each or £9-ish for 3.An ideal 'beer filter'.
For those that aren't into beer there are non alcoholic drinks - coffees , speciality teas, and Fentiman's soft drinks(brewed here it turns out).
Brewery tour conducted by Ann is 45 mins long and good for real ale bandits and tourists alike.
On entry you get given 3 bottle tops, which at the end you can exchange for 3 'taster' 1/3 pints (a mini real ale fest).
Or you can use these as my wife did to have one 1/3 and two tokens to take a bottle home. Her chums also used these for coffee , tea etc.Really does cater for all.
Souvenir Shop excellent value- can't argue with 6 bottles of a variety of ales for £10.
